Among other roles, I was Architectural Technology and Environment programme leader for three years.
I was a Tutor in architectural technology at the University of Edinburgh for 3 years (2009 – 2012) and before that, between 1995 – 2006 I was the associate professor at MSRIT School of Architecture, Bangalore, India and led my architectural practice and a team of consultants, where I have designed and executed around 120 projects. I am an Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Architects and the Indian Institute of Town Planners. I am also an Affiliate Member, Royal Institute of British Architects, UK and a Fellow, Higher Education Academy, UK.
My PhD in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh (2014) is in the field of the sustainable built environment. I was awarded the College of Humanities and Social Science Research Studentship and Overseas Research Students Award of the University of Edinburgh and the David Willis Prize for the session 2008/2009.

Ymchwil
My research interests lie in how homeowners’ aspirations can inform sustainable strategies in architectural design. My research goes beyond measuring technical performance in the building and examines how the behaviour of buildings is qualified to represent this in the wider social and cultural contexts. More recently, I am working on the impact of culturally informed choices on the health and well-being of users in indoor spaces. I am examining the user behaviour and choices surrounding the way we use space and its impact on the indoor air quality and thermal comfort of ethnic minority households.
Currently working on the RIBA Funded project (RIBA Research Grant) titled “My House, My Rules: Examining the impact of cultural behaviour on air quality in super-insulated Homes”.
I am happy to receive enquiries and applications from potential PhD students interested in any of the above themes.
Addysgu
I am involved in teaching Technology across the BSc and MArch programmes.
I supervise MArch, PG dissertations and doctoral research relevant to my research subject areas.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (awarded 2022).
Meysydd goruchwyliaeth
I am interested in supervising PhD students in the areas of Sustainable Built environment, currently, with a specific focus on:
- Indoor thermal Comfort; Overheating and Indoor air quality
- Lifestyle adaptation: culture-informed choices on the health and well-being of users in indoor spaces.
- Indoor air quality and thermal comfort of ethnic minority households.
