I was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He is a Research Associate at Cardiff University. My research interests include modelling and control of dynamic systems (including district heating and cooling systems and thermal energy storage), heat transfer, robust and nonlinear control theory.
I received his BSc degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN, National Polytechnic Institute), Mexico City, Mexico (2002), my MSc degree in Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM, Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education), Mexico City, Mexico (2014), and my PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Cardiff University, UK (2021). My industry experience includes process instrumentation and engineering projects in global pharmaceutical companies (2005-2015).
During my PhD studies, I was part of an Innovate UK KTP project of modernising and improving the operation of cooling systems using thermal energy storage systems. I also have supported teaching modules and supervised undergraduate students. As a research associate I am working on dynamic modelling and control of energy systems which include latent heat-based thermal energy storage. I am also supporting PhD students of the Centre for Integrated Energy Generation and Supply Research Group.
