Molly's area of research is concerned with the impact of new roles (specifically the adoption of prescribing by non-medical healthcare professionals) on service delivery. Most of her work has been undertaken in primary care and has involved diabetes service delivery, dermatology and pain services. She has also undertaken some work which has examined interprofessional education and interprofessional collaborative practice in healthcare teams. Current research studies include an evaluation of independent prescribing by physiotherapists and podiatrists, and work with general practice nurse prescribers to identify the strategies they employ to encourage patients with respiratory tract infections to self-manage their condition as opposed to prescribing an antibiotic.

My area of research is concerned with the impact of new roles (specifically the adoption of prescribing by non-medical healthcare professionals) on service delivery. Most of my work has been undertaken in primary care and has involved diabetes service delivery, dermatology and pain services. I have also undertaken some work which has examined interprofessional education and interprofessional collaborative practice in healthcare teams. Current research studies include an evaluation of independent prescribing by physiotherapists and podiatrists, and work with general practice nurse prescribers to identify the strategies they employ to encourage patients with respiratory tract infections to self-manage their condition as opposed to prescribing an antibiotic.
