Overview
David Hanley is Emeritus Professor of European Studies and former Head of the School of European Studies at Cardiff University. He was Visiting Fellow at Sciences Po, Paris and the Koninklijke Vlaams Academie van België in Brussels. His research centres on French and comparative European politics, especially political parties and transnationalism. He has published in journals such as Party Politics, Revue Internationale de Politique Comparée and Politische Vierteljahjresschrift, and his books include Beyond the Nation State: Parties in the Era of European Integration (Palgrave, 2008) and Party , Society, Government: Republican Democracy in France (Berghahn, 2002).
