Overview

At his retirement in 2008 Professor Jackson held a Personal Chair in the School. He publishes on nineteenth-century German literature in particular the German Poetic Realism tradition and the work of Conrad Ferdinand Meyer and Theodor Storm. In 2005 he wrote a major study of three German brothers killed in World War II that generated media interest. Professor Jackson is now working on the study of a German family in World War I.
