Research
Research interests
My present research interests centre on electrical properties of single protein molecules, work which is done in close collaboration with JE Macdonald (in the School) and DD Jones (School of Bioscience). Study of electronic conduction of single molecules has become an important area due to potential applications as well as a desire to understand the intrinsic processes involved. We are examining conduction of different molecular types using STM (scanning tunnelling microscopy) over a wide range of temperature. Experimentally, I also build and use scanning probe apparatus to study single molecule conductance, quantum dots, and 2D systems.Supervision

Currently, I am module organiser for:PX2134 - Structured programming
PX2132 - Introductory quantum mechanics
PX3211 - Advanced Mathematical Physics (until 2014)
I hold weekly first- and second-year tutorials.3rd and 4th year projects.
I also supervise several 3rd and 4th year project students taking:
PX3315 - Physics Project
PX4310 - Project
Previous teaching includes:
PX2108 - Topics in Physics
PX2203 - Thermal Physics
