Overview
Laura Jones is in the third year of a PhD project looking at Muslim experiences of Ramadan (the month of fasting) in contemporary Britain. She holds an MA in Islam in Contemporary Britain and an MTh in Chaplaincy Studies.
Her ethnographic research of Ramadan uses photo diaries and qualitative interviews to explore the significance of the holy month for Muslims in the UK. Her findings focus on attitudes towards food, communal elements of Ramadan and spirituality. She is interested in theories of embodiment and social construction in relation to her findings.
