Dr Russell Gidney
Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care Dentistry
Overview
I qualified from Cardiff in 2002 and went into General Dental Practice career from foundation dentistry and I have worked in the Chepstow area since that time largely seeing a stable patient base in a multi-surgery practice
In 2012 I decided the time had come to expand my horizons so I entered into an MSc in Cosmetic Restorative Dentistry which I completed with Merit in 2015. Over that period I also sat the Diploma of Membership for the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) and undertook Advanced certificates in teaching and mentoring in medical practice and became a member of the Academy of Medical Educators.
I became a foundation dentist trainer (Educational Supervisor) in 2014 and in 2015 the opportunity arose to return to Cardiff and become involved in the undergraduate teaching program.
Teaching
I am a clinical supervisor - providing chairside supervision, advice and support for undergraduate dental students as they treat patients on the teaching clinics
