Overview
I am a senior lecturer at the School of Healthcare Sciences, and the Director of Learning and Teaching for Post-Graduate Taught and Continuing Professional Development. Prior to working as an academic, I worked clinically as a practice educator and staff nurse in critical care units in Cardiff.
I have held a number of roles within the School of Healthcare Sciences, including programme manager, lead for Welsh language, and RPL lead.
I am an experienced educator, working across multiprofessional teams, delivering undergraduate and postgraduate education to home and overseas students.
My research interests lie in advanced (clinical) practice long term ventilation and quality of life, and I have wide links with national and international advanced practice teams and communities.

Teaching
I teach across a range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and also supervise UG, PGT and PGR students.
I lead on the PGT Workbased dissertation module, and also the empirical dissertation module, with involvement in the Systematic Review of the Literature dissertation and Advanced Clinical Practice portfolio module (dissertation level) which I developed in 2012.
I was the programme manager for the MSc Advanced Practice and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice from 2009 -2013, and am currently involved in a number of clinical assessment modules at PGT level, as well as at UG level.
I have a wealth of experience of curriculum design at modular and programme level, and have led and supported numerous validation events within Cardiff University and across the UK.
My current role as Director for Learning and Teaching in PGT/ CPD involves chairing Examination Boards, Boards of Studies, having oversight of the MSc Advanced Practice and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and Independent Prescribing programmes, ensuring and overseeing the quality of all PGT programmes and modules, and am the Assessment and Feedback lead. I also support and oversee educational contracting
I regularly oversee and support external events for other bodies and HEI’s, such as Health Education and Improvement Wales, Northern Ireland Practice Education Council, Health Education England, Tees University, Bangor University, London Southbank University, and as an external examiner for Ulster University, Southampton University, Bournemouth University and AECC University College.
