Overview

Dr Yiannis Kouropalatis joined Cardiff Business School at Cardiff University in September 2008 as a lecturer in marketing and strategy. Prior to this appointment and since October 2005, he was employed by Cardiff Business School at Cardiff University as a research associate and more recently as a lecturer in marketing by the University of Surrey.

Yiannis' academic experience follows and builds on his prior international management consulting career. He has worked in international environments including over 4 years as a management consultant for PA Consulting Group (UK), Logica UK Ltd and KANTOR Management Consultants (Athens – Greece). As part of his management consulting engagements, he led board level strategic development, change and turnaround projects for large multinationals in the UK, Greece, France and the Balkans.

His consulting portfolio includes clients such as BP (IT strategy development), AstraZeneca (Global resource forecasting), Eurobank (Strategic IT development in the Balkans), UBS (On-line private banking re-deployment strategy), COLT Telecoms (European network management), etc. Prior to his management consulting appointments and following his graduation from Sussex University, he gained industrial experience in the microelectronics design and production industry (3 years) before moving to the Strategy consulting sector.

Yiannis holds a PhD (2010) from Cardiff Business School, a BEng (1996), a PhD (2000) from Sussex University as well as an MBA (2002) from ALBA (Athens Laboratory of Business Administration). His current research activities include projects in the areas of peripheral vision based strategy, strategic competitive reasoning, organisational perception, strategic innovation and antecedents of strategic orientations.
