Ymchwil
Diddordebau ymchwil
Mae ymchwil Adam Hardy yn bennaf yn hanes pensaernïaeth yn Ne Asia, yn enwedig pensaernïaeth teml Indiaidd (Bwdhaidd, Hindw, Jain). Mae'r gwaith hwn yn cwmpasu'r rhan fwyaf o'r isgyfandir dros gyfnod hir, ac mae'n cynnwys dadansoddiad ffurfiol manwl. Mae lluniau'n chwarae rhan bwysig yn fy ymchwil, nid yn unig ar gyfer esboniad ond hefyd fel modd o ddadansoddi. Mae wedi gwneud gwaith cysylltiedig ar bensaernïaeth frodorol yn India, ac ar natur celf a phensaernïaeth aml-ddiwylliannol.
Mae gan Adam ddiddordeb mewn perthynas rhwng hanes/theori ac ymarfer pensaernïol: gellir mynd at hanes pensaernïol trwy lygaid dylunydd, tra gall dyluniad pensaernïol gael ei lywio gan ddealltwriaeth o egwyddorion a phrosesau sy'n sail i bensaernïaeth draddodiadol. Nod PRASADA, y ganolfan a ddechreuodd yn 1996, yw dod â theori ac ymarfer at ei gilydd a'u deall yn eu cyd-destun diwylliannol ehangach.
Rhaid i Hanes Pensaernïol bob amser fod yn fath o ail-greu, ac yn ddiweddar, ar ôl mwy na deng mlynedd ar hugain o gyfarwydd ag ieithoedd pensaernïol traddodiadau adeiladu temlau Indiaidd, mae prosiectau sydd wedi dod i gyfeiriad Adam yn cynnwys 'ail-greu' temlau hynafol mewn ffyrdd gwahanol ac uniongyrchol: gweithio allan dyluniadau deml anghofiedig o ddarluniau mil oed wedi'u hysgythru ar greigiau ac o destunau Sansgrit vastushastra (gweler Teml India); dylunio teml newydd yn arddull Hoysala o'r 12fed ganrif; ac adennill dyluniadau teml coll o filoedd o ddarnau cerrig ar gyfer prosiect cadwraeth Cronfa Henebion y Byd ym Madhya Pradesh. Ar hyn o bryd mae'n arwain prosiect mawr ar draddodiad Nagara, a ariennir gan Ymddiriedolaeth Leverhulme.
Fel goruchwyliwr cyntaf, mae wedi goruchwylio 14 PhD i'w gwblhau. Gellir gweld manylion ei oruchwyliaeth ymchwil ôl-raddedig, prosiectau ymchwil a gwaith dylunio pensaernïol ar wefan PRASADA.
Prif arbenigedd
Hanes a theori pensaernïaeth, anheddiad a chelf De Asia.
Profiad goruchwylio
Goruchwylio 15 PhD a 2 MPhil i'w cwblhau.
Diddordebau goruchwylio ychwanegol
Yn hapus i ystyried pob pwnc hanes pensaernïol, yn enwedig ar gyfer y cyfnod canoloesol, a chynigion y mae lluniadu pensaernïol naill ai'n ffocws neu'n ddull.
