Themâu ymchwil: Gwyddor Wybyddol a Seicoleg Ddatblygiadol
Mae iaith yn hanfodol i'r rhan fwyaf o weithgareddau dynol (e.e. gwneud ffrindiau, mynychu'r ysgol, rheoli tîm), a'r rheswm pam ei bod mor bwysig yw mai iaith yw'r ffordd fwyaf pwerus a hyblyg sydd gennym i gyfathrebu â phobl eraill. Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn deall sut mae iaith yn gweithio (h.y. beth yw'r mecanweithiau gwybyddol sylfaenol), sut mae'n cael ei ddefnyddio mewn sgyrsiau rhwng pobl, a sut mae plant yn dod yn ddefnyddwyr iaith arbenigol trwy ddysgu o'r sgyrsiau maen nhw'n eu cael gyda'u gofalwyr. I ddarganfod, rwy'n defnyddio ystod o ddulliau ymddygiadol ac olrhain llygaid. Yn ymddygiadol, rwyf wedi datblygu cyfres o dasgau iaith ar y cyd, lle mae pobl yn siarad ar yr un pryd, neu'n gorffen brawddegau ei gilydd. Mae'r tasgau hyn yn caniatáu inni astudio sut mae ein lleferydd yn cael ei ddylanwadu gan bresenoldeb pobl eraill a'r hyn maen nhw'n ei ddweud. Mewn gwaith ymddygiadol arall, rwy'n astudio turn-taking, y system llyfn lle rydym fel arfer yn osgoi siarad ar yr un pryd, neu adael bylchau tawel hir mewn sgyrsiau.
Mae olrhain llygaid (siaradwyr a gwrandawyr) yn darparu ffenestr i'r mecanweithiau gwybyddol sy'n sail iaith, gan y gallwn gasglu llawer am ba mor gyflym mae pobl yn deall a beth maen nhw'n mynd i'w ddweud trwy fesur ble maen nhw'n edrych. Gan ddefnyddio olrhain llygaid, rwy'n astudio sut mae rhagfynegiad yn helpu plant ac oedolion i ddeall eraill yn fwy effeithlon, siarad yn fwy rhugl, a chymryd tro yn fwy llyfn.
Rhagfynegiad ieithyddol yw'r gallu i ddyfalu beth fydd rhywun yn ei ddweud, sut y byddant yn ei ddweud, neu pryd y byddant yn rhoi'r gorau i siarad. Mae rhagfynegiad ieithyddol yn sgil y mae'n ymddangos bod gan oedolion a phlant, er i raddau gwahanol. Rwyf am ddeall sut mae'r sgil hon yn ymwneud â'n gallu i fynegi meddyliau mewn geiriau (h.y. cynhyrchu iaith). Ar ben hynny, pa swyddogaethau eraill y mae rhagfynegiad yn eu gwasanaethu? A yw'n helpu plant i ddysgu iaith yn y lle cyntaf? Os gallwch ragweld yna gallwch hefyd gymharu eich dyfalu â'r hyn rydych chi'n ei glywed mewn gwirionedd, a gall y broses hon o gymharu eich helpu i ddysgu heb gyfarwyddyd penodol. Os yw'r broses hon yn sail i ddysgu iaith, yna a yw'n esbonio pob math o ddysgu (e.e., caffael eich iaith gyntaf fel plentyn ac addasu i acen newydd pan fyddwch chi'n symud i dref wahanol?).
