Rwy'n Gymrawd Ymchwil yng Nghanolfan Delweddu Ymchwil yr Ymennydd Prifysgol Caerdydd (CUBRIC).
Mae gen i gefndir cryf mewn ystadegau, dadansoddi data a dulliau cyfrifiadurol. Nod fy ngwaith yw datblygu dulliau sy'n meintioli'r berthynas rhwng perfformiad swyddogaethol yr ymennydd dynol a'i strwythur, ac i ddatgelu'r mecanweithiau cyfathrebu rhwng ardaloedd yr ymennydd. Rwy'n defnyddio'r dulliau hyn ar ddelweddu cyseiniant magnetig (MRI) a data magnetoencephalography (MEG), yn ogystal â data genetig a gwybyddol.
Rwyf hefyd yn gweithio ar astudiaeth a ariennir gan MRC gwerth £1m sy'n anelu at wella ymyriadau ar gleifion sy'n dioddef o epilepsi sy'n gwrthsefyll cyffuriau. Rwy'n defnyddio algorithmau ystadegol a deallusrwydd artiffisial i nodi rhanbarthau patholegol anamlwg yng nghortecs cleifion epilepsi, ac i nodweddu'r patholeg sy'n bresennol yno. Rwy'n gweithio mewn cydweithrediad agos ag epileptologists, niwrolawfeddygon ac arbenigwyr histology.

Mae fy ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar ddefnyddio technegau ystadegol a dadansoddi data i feintioli swyddogaeth ymennydd dynol a'i berthynas â strwythur yr ymennydd, mewn iechyd a chlefydau. Mae gen i ddiddordeb mawr hefyd mewn datblygu dulliau a all helpu i drin cyflyrau patholegol a gwella bywydau cleifion. Rwyf wedi derbyn dros £195,000 o gyllid ymchwil personol fel ymgeisydd arweiniol.
Rhai o'r prosiectau diweddaraf rydw i wedi gweithio arnynt yw'r canlynol.
Gwneud yr Anweledig yn Weladwy: Dull Aml-Raddfa o Ganfod a Nodweddu Patholeg Cortig: Rwy'n gweithio ar brosiect a ariennir gan MRC gwerth £1M sy'n anelu at wella canfod briwiau cortical a gwella nodweddiad y patholeg o fewn y briwiau hynny (hy, presenoldeb celloedd balŵn, niwronau dysmorffig, dyslamination cortical neu patholegau eraill). Rwy'n defnyddio dulliau ystadegol datblygedig ac algorithmau deallusrwydd artiffisial ar ddata a gafwyd gyda phrotocolau MRI o'r radd flaenaf yng Nghanolfan Delweddu Ymchwil yr Ymennydd Prifysgol Caerdydd (CUBRIC) i ddarparu asesiad cyn llawdriniaeth o briwiau sy'n bresennol ym meinwe cortical cleifion sy'n dioddef o epilepsi sy'n gwrthsefyll cyffuriau. Yna cymharir canlyniadau'r dadansoddiad ystadegol â chanlyniadau o histoleg y meinwe wedi'i dorri. Mae'r gwaith hwn yn cael ei wneud mewn cydweithrediad agos ag epileptolegwyr a niwrolawfeddygon ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, arbenigwyr deallusrwydd artiffisial yn UCL, histolegwyr ym Mhrifysgol Leeds, ac arbenigwyr caffael MRI ym Mhrifysgol Case Western Reserve yn UDA.
Asesiad aml-raddfa ac aml-foddol o strwythur a swyddogaeth yr ymennydd dynol: Roeddwn i'n Gymrawd Ymchwil ar gyfer astudiaeth Cronfa Ddata Niwroddelweddu Uwch Cymru (WAND), a gwblhaodd gasglu data ym mis Mehefin 2023. Fe wnaethom gaffael data gan dros 170 o gyfranogwyr iach a chleifion seicosis. Roedd yr astudiaeth yn cynnwys cangen ymyrraeth. Gyda'r dadansoddiad data ar gyfer yr astudiaeth yn dal i fynd rhagddo, rwy'n gweithio ar gysylltu data swyddogaethol gwybyddol a niwrodelweddu â data sy'n ymwneud â strwythur yr ymennydd (fel myelination, maint axonal, ac ati)

Rwyf wedi goruchwylio 16 o fyfyrwyr israddedig ac ôl-raddedig yn eu prosiectau ymchwil ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, naill ai fel prif oruchwyliwr neu ail oruchwylydd.
