I am currently a PhD student at the Welsh School of Architecture. My undergraduate educational background is in Architectural Technology, graduating from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2020.

Through a desire of exploring current issues in architecture and design, I completed the MA in Architectural Design program at Cardiff University, participating in Dr. Marie Davidova’s Synergetic Landscapes unit.

During this time, I developed an interest in systems design methodologies, particularly in the context of expanding urban biodiversity. I was part of a group which developed an app encouraging circular  economy in the Grangetown area of Cardiff. I also designed a vermicomposting system encouraging co-creation between humans and worms, and supporting the expansion of edible and habitable landscapes.

Currently, I am researching biodiversity enhancement in university campuses, specifically researching hot, arid climates, such as that of my home country of Kuwait.

My research interests have developed as a result of the methodologies I was introduced to during my work in the Synergetic Landscapes unit of the MA Architectural Design course at Cardiff University, as well as due to the pressing issue of my home country Kuwait's climate, and its effects on local biodiversity.

I am also interested in the role of university campuses as living laboratories and as a platform for cross-demographic collaboration.
