Graddiais o Ysgol Feddygaeth Univesrity Caerdydd yn 2011 ac yn ystod y cyfnod hwnnw cwblheais hefyd BSc rhyng-gyfrifedig mewn Pyscholeg a Meddygaeth. Ers graddio, dechreuais hyfforddiant pediatrig yn 2014, ac ar hyn o bryd rwyf ar y rhaglen hyfforddi is-arbenigedd ar gyfer neonatoleg a gynhelir gan y Coleg Brenhinol Pediatreg ac Iechyd Plant.
Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n cymryd tair blynedd i ffwrdd o waith clinigol i gwblhau PhD sy'n ymchwilio i gyfryngwyr biocemegol patholeg anadlol mewn goroeswyr oedran ysgol o enedigaeth gynamserol. Mae'r gwaith hwn yn canolbwyntio'n bennaf ar ddadansoddiad proteomig a metabolomig o samplau anadlol ac wrin a gymerwyd gan garfan fawr o blant a gymerodd ran yn astudiaeth RHiNO (Canlyniadau Iechyd Anadlol mewn Newyddonates). Rwyf hefyd yn aelod o'r tîm sy'n ymgymryd â dilyniant dwy flynedd ar gyfer babanod sydd wedi cofrestru ar dreial AZTEC (Azithromcyin ar gyfer Clefyd Cronig yr Ysgyfaint Cynaeddfed), sy'n archwilio'r defnydd o azithromycin cynnar i atal clefyd cronig yr ysgyfaint cynamserol.

Acocwnt geni cynamserol ar gyfer tua 10% o'r holl enedigaethau byw ac yn cynrychioli diddordeb iechyd sylweddol. Mae babanod sy'n cael eu geni'n eithriadol o gynamserol (beichiogrwydd <28 wythnos wedi'u cwblhau) mewn perygl uchel o farwolaeth gynnar a morbidrwydd tymor hwy, gyda symptomau cynyddol o ail-gysylltiol a phroblemau niwroddatblygiadol. Mae'r babanod hynny a anwyd yn llai cynamserol yn dal i fod â risg uwch o forbidrwydd tymor hwy.
Mae fy maes diddordeb yn ymwneud â'r canlyniadau resbiratroy tymor cynnar a hir ar gyfer babanod a anwyd yn gynamserol. Mae fy mhrosiect ymchwil presennol yn archwilio a oes newid biocemegol y gellir ei ganfod mewn plant oedran ysgol a anwyd yn gynamserol gyda llai o swyddogaeth yr ysgyfaint, o'i gymharu â'r plant hynny a aned cyn y tymor sydd â gwell swyddogaeth ysgyfaint a rheolaethau cyfatebol tymor. I wneud hyn, rwy'n ddata proteomic a metabolomig analsying a gymerir fel rhan o astudiaeth glinigol fawr (RHINO: Canlyniadau Iechyd Anadlol ar gyfer Newydd-onates). Mae'r gwaith hwn yn cael ei oruchwylio gan yr Athro Sailesh Kotecha, Dr Sarah Kotecha a Dr John Watkins.
