Ymchwil

I am interested in the hydraulic and thermal regimes of groundwater in shallow, urban aquifers and how this relates to low-enthalpy geothermal energy potential. Greater understanding of subsurface processes and the mechanisms by which heat is transfered through the saturated and unsaturated zones is needed to allow for ground source heating systems to be installed and opperated sustainably. In addition to my PhD research, I also work at the British Geological Survey where my research covers a range of engineering geology, hydrogeology and volcanology projects.
