Ymunodd Diego â'r WSA fel Cymrawd Ôl-raddedig UKRI / Marie Skłodowska-Curie yn 2023 i weithio fel Prif Ymchwilydd yn y dinasoedd datgodio ar gyfer gwneud penderfyniadau gwybodus: dull deublyg digidol ar gyfer lleihau gwahaniaethau tiriogaethol a gwella prosiect bywoldeb trefol (DECIDE).
Cyn hynny, bu'n gweithio am flwyddyn fel cydweithredwr ymchwil ym Mhrifysgol Pisa, yr Eidal, yn themâu systemau symudedd trefol a chymorth penderfyniadau (DSS); Ar hyn o bryd mae'n rheoli perthynas gydweithredol â Pisa yn rôl ymgynghorydd technegol ym mhrosiect EMC2 "Digital Urban Transitions" Horizon Europe.
Mae ganddo PhD Ewropeaidd mewn Peirianneg Ynni, Systemau, Tiriogaeth ac Adeiladu (Prifysgol Pisa), gyda ffocws ar Systemau a Thiriogaeth, ym maes rhyngddisgyblaethol dadansoddi rhwydwaith, datblygu economaidd ac anghydbwysedd tiriogaethol. Mae ganddo MSc mewn Cynllunio Trefol a Rhanbarthol (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS- Brasil), a gradd baglor mewn economeg.
Ym Mhrifysgol Pisa, cyd-oruchwyliodd fyfyrwyr MSc ym maes dadansoddi trefol-ranbarthol ac analyisis risg trychineb, lle bu'n dysgu hefyd yn y cyrsiau Cynllunio Trefol a Rhanbarthol, a Modelu Tiriogaethol (Rhaglen i Raddedigion mewn Peirianneg Sifil, rhaglen Meistr mewn Peirianneg Adeiladu a Phensaernïaeth). Mae ganddo fwy nag ugain o gyhoeddiadau a adolygwyd gan gymheiriaid sy'n cwmpasu meysydd efelychiadau digidol trefol-rhanbarthol, cynrychioliadau data gweledol, metrigau rhwydwaith o ganologrwydd, mathemateg, gofod trefol a throseddu, agweddau gweledol ar symudiadau micro-drefol a lleihau a rheoli risg trychinebau.
Manteisiodd ar ddylanwad rhyngwladol yn ei addysg, gan brofi amgylchedd y Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, yn Brasil, yr Université Côte d'Azur, a labordy CNRS - UMR ESPACE, yn Ffrainc, yn ystod ei gyfnod tramor fel Ph.D. ymweliad, yn ogystal â chysylltiadau a chydweithrediadau â chydweithwyr ym Mrasil, Ffrainc, Algeria, Norwy, yr Eidal a'r Deyrnas Unedig.
