Rwy'n Gydymaith Ymchwil yn y Ganolfan Ymchwil a Datblygu Gofal Cymdeithasol Plant (CASCADE), sydd â diddordeb mewn dulliau amlasiantaethol o ddiogelu plant a phobl ifanc rhag niwed. Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn datblygu technegau ystadegol ac offer gwneud penderfyniadau ar gyfer gweithwyr proffesiynol i helpu i nodi cam-drin a galluogi ymyriadau diogelu cynnar. Mae gen i brofiad sylweddol hefyd o werthuso ymyriadau presennol, gan arbenigo mewn dulliau cymysg o weithredu a gwerthuso prosesau, a dadansoddi effaith.
Mae'r prosiectau presennol yn cynnwys gwerthusiad o'r Heddlu mewn Ysgolion, a ariennir gan y Gronfa Gwaddol Ieuenctid, ac ymchwiliad i ddichonoldeb defnyddio data gweinyddol yr heddlu i werthuso Gwasanaeth Ymyrraeth Gynnar Gweithredu dros Droseddau Cyfundrefnol Difrifol Plant (SOCEIS) drwy gynllun lled-arbrofol.
O fewn CASCADE rwyf wedi gweithio yn flaenorol ar Dreial Gweithwyr Cymdeithasol mewn Ysgolion (SWIS), a ariannwyd gan yr Adran Addysg. Roedd Treial SWIS yn dreial rheoledig ar hap clwstwr ar raddfa fawr ar draws 21 o awdurdodau lleol yn Lloegr a roddodd Gweithwyr Cymdeithasol mewn ysgolion i wella sut mae addysg a Gofal Cymdeithasol Plant (CSC) yn ymateb i bryderon diogelu. Roeddwn hefyd yn ymwneud â chynnal dadansoddiad ACHOS i werthuso effaith gweithredu Rowndiau Schwartz yn CSC.
Roedd fy ymchwil yn yr Ysgol Meddygaeth yn cynnwys astudiaeth a ariannwyd gan Wobr Trawsddisgyblaethol Ymddiriedolaeth Croeso ISSF yn ymchwilio i ddichonoldeb defnyddio dulliau cloddio testun blaengar, heb oruchwyliaeth, data mawr, i ymchwilio i ddefnydd rhieni o'r cyfryngau cymdeithasol i drafod cymorth cyntaf llosgiadau. Mae llosgiadau plant yn un o brif achosion anafiadau ymhlith plant dan 5 oed, a gall newid bywydau. Fodd bynnag, dim ond 1 o bob 4 plentyn sy'n mynychu'r Adran Achosion Brys gyda llosgiad sydd wedi derbyn cymorth cyntaf priodol gartref. Mae rhwymedïau 'traddodiadol' a allai fod yn niweidiol ac yn aml yn rhyfedd yn cael eu lledaenu trwy gylchoedd cymdeithasol ac mae rhieni plant ifanc yn defnyddio cyfryngau cymdeithasol fwyfwy i geisio a rhannu cyngor rhianta. Nod yr astudiaeth hon oedd deall defnyddioldeb posibl y ffynhonnell ddata hon, hyd yma, i lywio a gwella ymyriadau ar-lein i wella cymorth cyntaf rhieni ar gyfer llosgiadau. Cynhaliwyd y gwaith hwn mewn cydweithrediad ag ymchwilwyr yn yr Ysgol Cyfrifiadureg a Gwybodeg.
Yn flaenorol, rwyf wedi gweithio ar ystod eang o brosiectau ymchwil ym maes iechyd plant, gan gynnwys: ymyriadau newid ymddygiad cymunedol ac ar-lein, nodi cam-drin plant mewn lleoliadau iechyd a'r defnydd o ddata arferol wrth ddeall defnydd y gwasanaeth gofal iechyd gan blant a phobl ifanc â pharlys yr ymennydd. Mae gen i gefndir mewn dadansoddi setiau data meintiol cymhleth, ac rwy'n mwynhau gweithio dulliau trawsddisgyblaethol a chymysg.
