Penny joined the Accounting and Finance Section as a Lecturer in Accounting in January 2019. She is originally from Greece and studied for a BSc in Business Administration at the University of Patras, which she completed in 2011. She then moved to Bristol to study an MSc in Accounting, Finance, and Management at the University of Bristol. Penny holds a PhD in Accounting from the Economics, Finance, and Management (EFM) Department, University of Bristol.
Her research interests lie within the area of corporate reporting, integrated reporting, accountability and impression management in annual reports. Penny's PhD thesis investigated the perceptions of preparers of the design, production, and evolution of the annual report. Part of her research which focused on the perspectives of UK preparers of Integrated Reporting has been published in Critical Perspectives on Accounting.
Penny is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of the executive committee of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Special Interest Group (FARSIG) of BAFA. She has been involved in the development of the 2017 and 2018 discussion papers on the future of financial reporting supported by FARSIG and ACCA and co-organised the 20th and 22nd Financial Reporting Business and Communication (FRBC) Conference in Bristol in 2016 and 2018.
