- Ar gael fel goruchwyliwr ôl-raddedig
Trosolwyg
Rwy'n ddaearyddwr sy'n astudio'r rhyngweithio rhwng bywyd, elfennau, mwynau a phrosesau geocemegol yn hanes y Ddaear.
Mae'r gwaith hwn yn canolbwyntio'n benodol ar sut mae bywyd (yn enwedig microbaidd) yn dylanwadu ar feicio elfennau fel haearn, sylffwr, arsenig, ffosfforws, copr, sinc a charbon drwy'r geobiosffer, a sut mae'r prosesau hyn wedi siapio atmosffer ac amgylchedd y Ddaear dros amser daearegol.
Trwy ddefnyddio offer rhyngddisgyblaethol sy'n cyfuno geomicrobioleg foleciwlaidd, biogeocemeg, geocemeg isotop, geocemeg elfen hybrin, gwaddodeg, daeareg a phaleontoleg, rwy'n angerddol am y ddealltwriaeth gyfannol o sut mae system bywyd a'r Ddaear yn cyd-esblygu.

Ymchwil
- Rhyngweithiadau Microb-Mwynau: Mae'r ymchwil hon yn ymchwilio i'r rhyngweithio rhwng microbau a mwynau, yn enwedig sut y gall micro-organebau drawsnewid a sefydlogi mwynau. Mae gan hyn oblygiadau ar gyfer deall biolofnodion hynafol a'r potensial i fywyd effeithio ar ffurfiant mwynau.
- Beicio haearn a maetholion: Rwy'n astudio sut mae prosesau biotig ac abiotig yn cyfryngu ocsidiad a lleihau haearn, sy'n gysylltiedig â ffurfio dyddodion haearn a beicio elfennau olrhain maetholion mewn amgylcheddau morol yn y gorffennol a'r presennol. Mae'r gwaith hwn yn helpu i esbonio ffurfiannau haearn bandiog cyn-gambriaidd (BIFs), ynghyd ag ocsigeniad cefnfor-atmosffer a chylchoedd maetholion morol allweddol trwy amser daearegol.
- Geocemeg ficrobaidd: Rwy'n cynnal ymchwil helaeth ar rôl microbau wrth reoli cylchoedd geocemegol, megis sylffwr, arsenig, ffosfforws a haearn, a'u heffaith ar esblygiad cefnfor-atmosffer, gan gynnwys mewnwelediadau i sut y dylanwadodd micro-organebau ar gyflwr ocsideiddio amgylcheddau hynafol.
- Methane a Beicio Metel: Astudiaeth ocsidiad methan aerobig (methanotrophy), gan ganolbwyntio'n benodol ar rôl metelau olrhain fel copr wrth gefnogi prosesau microbaidd sy'n rheoleiddio lefelau ocsideiddio methan, sy'n hanfodol wrth reoli crynodiadau atmosfferig.
- Esblygiad a Phlastig Geocemegol y Ddaear: Mae fy nghefndir wrth astudio esblygiad biogeocemegol ehangach hanes cynnar y Ddaear wedi dod â mi at sut y byddai llygredd plastig yn effeithio ar esblygiad biogeocemegol hirdymor system fodern y cefnforoedd-atmosffer.
