Bywgraffiad
Ers ymuno â'r Ysgol Peirianneg, rwyf wedi ymgymryd ag ymchwil a gydnabyddir yn rhyngwladol mewn dau faes o bwysigrwydd ac effaith fyd-eang: Gridiau Clyfar a Thrydaneiddio Trafnidiaeth mewn dull system gyfan. Mae fy arbenigedd ymchwil yn cyd-fynd yn ardderchog â pholisïau a mentrau presennol y Llywodraeth. Mae cyflwyno EVs yn eang yn gofyn am ddull system gyfan integredig i fynd i'r afael â'r heriau tymor byr, canolig a hirdymor, gan gwmpasu'r system gyflenwi trydan a'r seilwaith gwefru (gan gynnwys codi tâl di-wifr gwifrau ac ar/oddi ar y ffordd).
Rwyf wedi bod ar flaen y gad yn y newid hwn i drafnidiaeth drydanol ers dros ddegawd, gan ddarparu arweinyddiaeth a rhagoriaeth ymchwil ryngwladol, cydweithio'n eang â diwydiant, a chael fy nghydnabod fel arbenigwr mewn EVs a Gridiau Clyfar gyda pharch cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol. Sefydlais a chyfarwyddais y Ganolfan Ragoriaeth Cerbydau Trydan amlddisgyblaethol . Rwy'n gyd-arweinydd y thema drawsbynciol Trafnidiaeth Gynaliadwy yn yr Ysgol Peirianneg sy'n cynnal gweithgareddau ymchwil ac ymgysylltu ar dechnolegau trafnidiaeth newydd ac sy'n dod i'r amlwg.
Rwy'n arwain prosiect Rhwydwaith EPSRC+ gwerth £1M Datgarboneiddio Trafnidiaeth trwy Drydaneiddio, dull system gyfan (DTE) gyda phartneriaid academaidd Prifysgol Cranfield, Prifysgol Bryste, Prifysgol Birmingham, a Phrifysgol Southampton. Mae'r rhwydwaith yn dwyn ynghyd arbenigedd o bob rhan o'r diwydiant, y byd academaidd a'r sector cyhoeddus i drawsnewid arferion cyfredol ac ymchwil ym maes datgarboneiddio trafnidiaeth, gan edrych ar y rhwydweithiau trydan, seilwaith gwefru cerbydau trydan, awyrennau trydan a hybrid a thrydaneiddio'r rhwydwaith rheilffyrdd, gan archwilio gyrwyr ar gyfer newid ac arloesi technoleg. Mae prosiect DTE Network+ wedi cael sylw yn Newyddion y Llywodraeth – ddwywaith. Yn gyntaf, trafododd Rhif 10 y Rhwydweithiau mewn datganiad i'r wasg ar gyflymu teithio gwyrddach. Yn ail, cyhoeddodd Swyddfa Ysgrifennydd Gwladol Cymru fod "rhwydwaith ymchwil trafnidiaeth newydd Caerdydd yn derbyn hwb ariannol o £1m gan Lywodraeth y DU i droi cerbydau'n wyrdd". DTE Network+ fe'i cynhwyswyd yn y "Targedau sero net a datgarboneiddio trafnidiaeth", Neuadd Westminster Tŷ'r Cyffredin, Dadl a gychwynnwyd gan Damian Hinds AS, Dydd Mawrth 4 Chwefror 2020, 9.30 – 11am
