Addysgu
Bywgraffiad
Ymunodd Neil â SIRC yn 2003 lle cafodd ei benodi i ddechrau i weithio ar gronfa ddata marchnad y Blaid Lafur Fyd-eang. Cyn ymuno â SIRC, bu Neil yn gweithio yn yr uned Seicoleg Galwedigaethol ac Iechyd ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd fel cynorthwyydd ymchwil ar y prosiect blinder, iechyd a diogelwch. Archwiliodd y prosiect hwn, a gynhaliwyd mewn cydweithrediad â SIRC, achosion straen a blinder yn y diwydiant morwrol. Hwn oedd y cyntaf o'i fath i fynd â phrofion perfformiad i'r amgylchedd morwrol, ac roedd Neil yn cynnal nifer o deithiau ymchwil ar fwrdd y diwedd. Mae gradd gyntaf Neil yn BSc (Anrh) mewn Seicoleg a Chyfathrebu, ac mae ganddo hefyd MPhil, y dyfarnwyd y ddau ohonynt gan Sefydliad Prifysgol Cymru, Caerdydd.
Yn SIRC mae Neil ar hyn o bryd yn gweithio ar brosiect iechyd a mynediad at ofal iechyd y Morwyr yn 2023 a ariennir gan Stiftelsen Sveriges Sjömanshus (SSS) sy'n edrych ar iechyd morwyr rhyngwladol trwy holiaduron a chyfweliadau sy'n cymharu eu statws iechyd cyfredol â'r hyn a geir mewn astudiaethau a gwblhawyd yn 2011 a 2016. Am y tro cyntaf, bydd yr astudiaeth yn edrych ar fynediad at ofal iechyd a'r anawsterau y mae morwyr yn eu profi wrth gael gafael ar y gofal hwnnw, yn ogystal â'r anawsterau y mae gweithredwyr llongau yn eu hwynebu wrth geisio cefnogi iechyd gweithwyr eu bwrdd llongau.
Yn y gorffennol mae Neil wedi gweithio ar nifer o brosiectau eraill o fewn SIRC, gan gynnwys:
1) Ymarfer cwmpasu sy'n ymwneud â gwerthuso tystiolaeth sy'n sail i wneud penderfyniadau yn y diwydiant llongau yn y dyfodol
Edrychodd y prosiect hwn ar gyfer Sefydliad Cofrestr Lloyd's ar y dystiolaeth a ddefnyddir i gefnogi gwneud penderfyniadau mewn perthynas â diogelwch yn y diwydiant morwrol. Roedd y prosiect ei hun yn ymarfer cwmpasu a gynhyrchodd gipolwg manwl o'r math o wybodaeth sy'n cael ei defnyddio ar hyn o bryd gan y diwydiant morwrol i lywio'r broses o wneud penderfyniadau.
2) Mapio Gweithwyr Morwrol Proffesiynol - Tuag at system casglu data Ewropeaidd ar raddfa lawn
Edrychodd yr ymchwil a ariannwyd gan Ffederasiwn Gweithwyr Trafnidiaeth Ewrop (ETF) a Chymdeithas Perchnogion Llongau Cymunedol Ewrop (ECSA) ar argaeledd a chywirdeb data ar y rhai a gyflogir yn y diwydiant morwrol ym mhob gwlad yn yr Undeb Ewropeaidd (yn ogystal â Gwlad yr Iâ, Norwy a'r DU) yn asesu pa ddata oedd ar gael a pha mor fanwl a chywir oedd hyn, gydag argymhellion ar gyfer datblygu system casglu data ledled Ewrop yn cael eu gwneud.
3) Iechyd meddwl a lles morwyr
Mae'r prosiect hwn a ariennir gan y Sefydliad Diogelwch Galwedigaethol ac Iechyd (ISOH) yn edrych ar iechyd meddwl morwyr.
