Crynodeb ymchwil
Mae fy niddordebau ymchwil ym maes cof episodig dynol, sy'n gof am ein gorffennol personol. Nod un elfen o ymchwil yn y maes hwn yw mireinio modelau cof seicolegol er mwyn cael gwell dealltwriaeth o'r prosesau sy'n cyfrannu at gydnabod barn cof a sut maent yn ymwneud â'i gilydd. Cwestiwn arall yr wyf yn ymchwilio iddo yw sut y gall unigolion iach adfer gwybodaeth berthnasol yn ddetholus heb adfer llifogydd o atgofion amherthnasol. Mae'r holl ymchwil hon yn cymryd ymagwedd aml-foddol (ymddygiadol, EEG, MEG a fMRI) sy'n caniatáu dadansoddiad integredig o'r prosesau, cwrs amser a rhanbarthau'r ymennydd sy'n gysylltiedig â'r cof episodig.
Fy ail faes diddordeb yw archwilio'r diffygion gwybyddol sy'n bresennol mewn unigolion o fewn y sbectrwm sgitsoffrenia a chroesi'r cysylltiad posibl â symptomau clinigol. Mae'r gwaith hwn wedi archwilio sylw, dysgu ac yn fwy diweddar diffygion cof ac wedi defnyddio ystod o dechnegau (e.e. ymddygiadol, ffarmacolegol, EMG ac EEG).
Crynodeb addysgu
Rwy'n addysgu ar bob lefel o'r radd Seicoleg Israddedigion a hefyd ar y cwrs Meistr mewn Niwroddelweddu. Rwy'n rhoi cyfres o 6 darlith ar gof i fyfyrwyr ym mlwyddyn gyntaf y radd Seicoleg ar gyfer Iaith a Chof, mae'r rhain yn cwmpasu: ffactorau sy'n effeithio ar amgodio ac adfer o'r cof, cof ffynhonnell a sgitsoffrenia, amnesia ac anghofio. Rwy'n goruchwylio myfyrwyr blwyddyn olaf ar eu prosiectau ymchwil. Mae'r rhain fel arfer ar ryw agwedd o'r cof e.e. cof ffug, monitro realiti, meddwl episodig yn y dyfodol; ac mae rhai o'r prosiectau hyn hefyd yn archwilio sgitsoffoteipi. Rwy'n diwtor personol i fyfyrwyr ar wahanol lefelau o'r radd Israddedig

Ymchwil
Pynciau ymchwil a phapurau cysylltiedig
Cof Episodig
Ar hyn o bryd mae ffocws fy ngwaith ar gof episodig dynol, yn enwedig adfer cof. Un elfen o ymchwil yw mireinio modelau cof seicolegol er mwyn cael gwell dealltwriaeth o'r prosesau sy'n cyfrannu at gydnabod dyfarniadau cof a sut maent yn ymwneud â'i gilydd. Mae ymchwil electroffisiolegol wedi bod yn ddylanwadol wrth awgrymu bod dwy broses wahanol: atgof a chyfarwydddeb, ond mae'n ddadleuol sut mae'r prosesau hyn yn gysylltiedig â'i gilydd. Gan ddefnyddio mynegeion magnetoencephalograffeg (MEG) o brosesau adfer cof rydym wedi gallu dyfarnu rhwng gwahanol gyfrifon a dod o hyd i gefnogaeth gref bod atgof a chyfarwydddra yn gwneud cyfraniadau annibynnol i ddyfarniadau cof. Cyflawnwyd hyn drwy fesur gweithgarwch niwral ar gyfartaledd a chyferbynnu ar draws gwahanol amodau diddordeb.
Mewn gwaith arall rydym yn ymchwilio i brosesau rheoli cof. Dros amser, mae llawer iawn o wybodaeth episodig yn cael ei storio yn y cof, ac mae sefyllfaoedd gwahanol yn gofyn am adfer elfennau penodol o wybodaeth gyd-destunol sy'n berthnasol i'r dasg dan sylw. Mae gan unigolion iach y gallu i adfer gwybodaeth berthnasol yn ddetholus heb adfer llifogydd o atgofion episodig amherthnasol, sy'n dangos bod adalw episodig yn cael ei arwain a'i gyfyngu i bob pwrpas gan brosesau rheoli. Nod ein gwaith gan ddefnyddio EEG yw nodi a phennu arwyddocâd swyddogaethol y prosesau rheoli hyn a'r gwahanol gamau adfer y maent yn gweithredu ynddynt.
Seicoleg Glinigol
Y maes ymchwil arall y mae gennyf ddiddordeb ynddo yw a) egluro'r diffygion gwybyddol sy'n bresennol mewn unigolion o fewn y sbectrwm sgitsoffrenia, a b) sut y gallai'r rhain fod yn gysylltiedig â rhai symptomau clinigol. Mae'r rhan fwyaf o'r gwaith hwn wedi cymryd ymagwedd ddimensiwn tuag at sgitsoffrenia ac wedi mesur sgitsoffoteipi mewn gwirfoddolwyr iach.
Mae peth o'r gwaith hwn wedi archwilio gwall rhagfynegi, sef yr anghysondeb rhwng disgwyliad a phrofiad. Trwy leihau'r gwall hwn, gall unigolyn wella ei allu i ragweld digwyddiadau yn eu hamgylchedd. Cynigiwyd y gall unigolion â sgitsoffrenia ddangos defnydd annormal o'r signal gwall hwn sy'n arwain at ffurfio cymdeithasau amhriodol sydd yn ei dro yn arwain at rai o'r symptomau seicotig. Rwyf wedi archwilio hyn gan ddefnyddio patrymau dysgu amrywiol, megis ataliad cudd a blocio Kamin ac ar hyn o bryd rwy'n edrych ar hyn yn y parth canfyddiadol.
Mae gen i ddiddordeb hefyd mewn diffygion mewn cof episodig mewn unigolion yn y sbectrwm sgitsoffrenia. Mae'r rhain yn bwysig oherwydd eu bod yn un o'r rhagfynegyddion cryfaf o ganlyniad swyddogaethol mewn grwpiau cleifion. Mae gen i ddiddordeb yn y gallu i benderfynu ar darddiad, neu ffynhonnell, cof ac yn benodol gwneud barn am eich hun yn erbyn eraill e.e. a wnes i hynny neu a wnaethoch chi?; Adwaenir fel Monitro Realiti.
