Rwy'n addysgu'n bennaf yn hanes meddwl gwleidyddol y Gorllewin, o Plato i'r 20fed ganrif. Cyd-awdur cyflwyniad cyffredinol i'r pwnc hwn yn 2019 ("Sut i Feddwl yn Wleidyddol"), ffrwyth dros 60 mlynedd o brofiad (gennyf i a fy nghyd-awdur).

Deuthum i Brifysgol Caerdydd yn 1994 fel darlithydd llawn amser o Goleg Balliol, Rhydychen, lle'r oeddwn wedi bod yn fyfyriwr DPhil (ers 1990) dan oruchwyliaeth Syr Larry Siedentop a Syr Isaiah Berlin. Rwyf bellach yn Athro Gwleidyddiaeth yng Nghaerdydd. Rwyf hefyd wedi dysgu ym Mhrifysgol Canol Ewrop, Prifysgol Rhydychen, Coleg Dartmouth, Coleg Williams a Phrifysgol Americanaidd Paris. Rhwng 2006 a 2018 bûm yn dysgu yn Ysgol Haf Harvard yng Nghaergrawnt, Massachusetts.
Rwyf wedi bod yn ysgolhaig gwadd yn y Ganolfan Astudiaethau Ewropeaidd ym Mhrifysgol Harvard (2000) a'r Adran Gwleidyddiaeth ac Astudiaethau Rhyngwladol ym Mhrifysgol Caergrawnt (2012).
