Rwy'n Gydymaith Ymchwil yn y Ganolfan Ymchwil Gofal Cymdeithasol i Oedolion ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd ac yn awdur nifer o gyhoeddiadau academaidd, gan gynnwys fy llyfr The 21st Century Lads: Continuity and Changes among Marginalised Young Men from the South Wales Valleys. Mae fy ngwaith yn canolbwyntio ar wrywdodau, rhyw, addysg, cyflogaeth, dosbarth cymdeithasol, ac iechyd a lles.
Mae fy niddordebau academaidd yn cael eu llunio gan fy mhrofiad byw fel preswylydd gydol oes o gyn-gymuned lofaol ddifreintiedig yng Nghymoedd De Cymru. Ar ôl gadael yr ysgol heb TGAU a gweithio mewn swyddi llafur llaw am sawl blwyddyn, dychwelais i addysg yn 33 oed. Mae'r daith hon yn parhau i lywio fy ymrwymiad i ymchwil sy'n ymgysylltu â chymdeithasol ac i wella canlyniadau i grwpiau difreintiedig.

Roedd fy PhD yn astudiaeth ethnograffig a gynhaliwyd yng Nghymoedd De Cymru mewn cydweithrediad â sefydliad canolfan ieuenctid. Roedd yn archwilio trawsnewidiadau ysgol i waith a hunaniaethau gwrywaidd grŵp o ddynion ifanc dosbarth gweithiol ymylol rhwng 12 a 21 oed, ochr yn ochr â chyfweliadau â gweithwyr ieuenctid ac athro ysgol.
