My research interests encompass three areas of cartilage biology: the role of inflammatory cytokine signalling and mechanical load in cartilage degeneration and cartilage repair strategies. My current research involves delineating the role of PKR in arthritis in order to reveal new mechanisms of cytokine and mechanical load mediated cartilage degradation that may be targeted in treatment or diagnosis of arthritis. Another research priority focuses on cartilage repair with particular emphasis on investigating why repair tissue poorly integrates with the surrounding host cartilage.

Awst 2021 - Mawrth 2023 Orphelian / Versus Arthritis: Gwnaethom ddefnyddio atalydd mGluR5 i sefydlu rôl y llwybr signalau glwtamad yn ymateb yr osteocytes i lid neu lwyth yn ein model osteocyte 3D in vitro ac yn vivo model PTOA a phenderfynu effaith llawdriniaeth HTO ar reoleiddio genynnau sy'n ymwneud ag ailfodelu esgyrn.
Jul 2018 - Mawrth 2022 Ymddiriedolaeth Wellcome: Defnyddiais RNAseq i ymchwilio i'r 'mecanosom' mewn osteocytes bôn-gelloedd dynol. Yn ogystal, bûm yn cydweithio â Dr Blain (BIOSI) i ymchwilio i reoleiddio epigenetig a achosir gan lwyth mewn homeostasis cartilag.
Ionawr 2017 - Gorff 2018 NC3Rs: Nod y prosiect hwn oedd gwahaniaethu bôn-gelloedd dynol i gelloedd esgyrn a chartilag, er mwyn ymchwilio iddynt o dan lwyth mecanyddol mewn modelau 3D ar gyfer sgrinio cyffuriau. Ariannwyd y bartneriaeth ddiwydiannol hon gyda Kirkstall a Biogelx gan her TG CRACK, prosiect NC3Rs sy'n ariannu cydweithrediad rhwng diwydiant, academyddion a busnesau bach a chanolig i leihau'r angen am anifeiliaid mewn ymchwil.
Ionawr 2010 – Rhag 2018 Versus Arthritis/Prifysgol Caerdydd Seedcorn: Ymchwiliais i rôl y moleciwl signalu, Protein Kinase R (PKR), prif reolydd prosesau celloedd sylfaenol, ym mecanweithiau clefydau esgyrn a chartilag. Datgelodd y gwaith hwn rôl allweddol ar gyfer PKR mewn ymatebion cartilag i lid a llwyth, ac yn fwy diweddar mewn gwahaniaethu osteobig ac ailfodelu esgyrn a achosir gan cytokine. Mae fy astudiaethau wedi darparu mewnwelediadau pwysig i'r mecanweithiau moleciwlaidd a allai yrru dirywiad ar y cyd. 2007 – 2010 DTI/Smith & Nai: Darganfu'r ymchwil hon rwystrau i integreiddio cartilag-cartilag a datblygu damcaniaethau ar gyfer integreiddio cartilag yn well. Roedd y prosiect yn gofyn am adroddiadau cynnydd technegol llawn yn ogystal â lledaenu canlyniadau ar lafar i bartneriaid diwydiannol trwy gyfarfodydd wyneb yn wyneb a skype.
