Crynodeb ymchwil
Mae'r llabed amserol canolrif ac yn enwedig yr hippocampus wedi bod yn gysylltiedig ers amser maith â swyddogaeth cof mewn bodau dynol ac anifeiliaid nad ydynt yn ddynol. Mae'r rhanbarth hwn yn aml yn ymwneud â chyflyrau seiciatrig a niwroddirywiol, fel sgitsoffrenia a chlefyd Alzheimer. Nod fy ymchwil presennol yw mynd i'r afael â dau brif gwestiwn:
- Pa rôl mae'r hippocampus a strwythurau ymennydd cysylltiedig yn ei chwarae yn y cof?
- Sut mae cyflyrau niwroddirywiol yn dylanwadu ar swyddogaeth yr hippocampus?
Wrth fynd i'r afael â'r cwestiynau hyn, rwy'n defnyddio modelau preclinical o synaptig patholeg yr ymennydd gan gynnwys modelau genetig o gyflyrau niwroddirywiol etifeddadwy, fel clefyd Alzheimer a dementia frontotemporal.
Mae'r prosiectau presennol yn cynnwys:
- asesu swbstradau seicolegol a niwral cof tebyg i gonfensiwn ac episodig, nodweddu modelau trawsgenig clefyd Alzheimer;
- ymchwilio i fanteision seicolegol a niwral atchwanegiadau dietegol ar batholeg Alzheimer;
- asesiad o driniaeth gwrthgyrff newydd ar gyfer patholeg amyloid;
- Ymchwilio i dderbynyddion cannabinoid yn y cof a chlefydau niwroddirywiol;
- Rôl priming mamol ar ddechrau clefyd Alzheimer yn ddiweddarach mewn bywyd.
Crynodeb addysgu
Mae fy addysgu yn cynnwys: darlithoedd ar seicoleg fiolegol i fyfyrwyr israddedig lefel 2; modiwl lefel 3 cyflawn ar niwrowyddoniaeth dysgu a chof; Darlithoedd i fyfyrwyr niwrowyddoniaeth a myfyrwyr meddygol ar fodelau cyn-glinigol clefyd Alzheimer a swyddogaeth cortigol uwch mewn pobl, yn y drefn honno.

Diddordebau ymchwil ôl-raddedig
Ar hyn o bryd mae myfyrwyr ôl-raddedig yn cynnal ymchwil a gyfeirir at ymchwilio i swbstradau niwral gwybyddiaeth anifeiliaid a gwerthuso therapïau cyfrifiadurol ar gyfer patholeg amyloid (gweler isod)
Os oes gennych ddiddordeb mewn gwneud cais am PhD, neu am ragor o wybodaeth am fy ymchwil ôl-raddedig, cysylltwch â mi'n uniongyrchol (manylion cyswllt ar gael ar y dudalen 'Trosolwg'), neu gyflwyno cais ffurfiol.
