Ymchwil
Mae fy ymchwil wedi'i leoli mewn Cysylltiadau Rhyngwladol. Mae gen i ddiddordeb arbennig mewn gwrthdaro byd-eang yr 21ain ganrif a sut y gellir datrys y rhain, gyda ffocws ar drefn fyd-eang, normativity a normau. Yn gysyniadol, mae rôl "cynaliadwyedd" a "chyfrifoldeb" wedi bod wrth wraidd fy ymchwil ers peth amser. Empirig, mae fy ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar y rhanbarth pegynol, yn enwedig yr Arctig, a'r cefnforoedd.
Rwy'n defnyddio methodolegau wedi'u hangori yn y gymdeithaseg traddodiad gwybodaeth i edrych ar groestoriad actorion, arferion a rôl diwylliant ar wahanol lefelau o wleidyddiaeth y byd. Mae fy ngwaith yn tynnu ar athroniaeth hermeneutig a methodoleg praxiographic er mwyn deall micro-arferion prosesau rhyngweithio a'u perthynas â macro strwythurau. Gellir cynrychioli fy ymchwil mewn tri llinyn:
1. Gwleidyddiaeth Pegynol Gynaliadwy
Mae Cysylltiadau Rhyngwladol yn ymwneud yn bennaf â gweithgareddau ar y tir a thrwy hynny wedi esgeuluso cefnforoedd a rhanbarthau pegynol i raddau helaeth. Felly mae wedi anwybyddu cysylltiadau gwleidyddol mewn rhannau sylweddol o'r blaned, yn enwedig yn yr Arctig. Wedi'i hwyluso gan newid yn yr hinsawdd a thechnolegau newydd, mae mynediad at adnoddau gwahanol a newydd (e.e. pysgod, olew, nwy) yn ogystal â datblygiadau seilwaith (lonydd llongau, porthladdoedd, rheilffyrdd, telathrebu) yn codi cwestiynau o fynediad, perchnogaeth a chyfranogiad trefniadau llywodraethu cynaliadwy o fewn a thu hwnt i ardaloedd awdurdodaeth genedlaethol. Yn ogystal, mae cymunedau lleol a brodorol o dan bwysau cynyddol i addasu i'r amgylchedd sy'n newid a gweithgareddau economaidd newydd, a thrwy hynny gysylltu'r lleol a'r byd-eang trwy wahanol wrthdaro. Mae fy ymchwil yn ceisio mynd i'r afael â sut y gall pensaernïaeth sefydliadol yr Arctig ddarparu ar gyfer amrywiaeth o fewn fframweithiau cyfiawnder, gan gynnwys cwestiynau hawliau dynol a chynaliadwyedd.
Mae fy ymchwil ar y ddau ranbarth pegynol wedi cael ei ariannu gan Gymdeithas Astudiaethau Rhyngwladol Prydain gyda Chymrodoriaeth Gyrfa Gynnar a Sefydliad Konrad Adenauer. Rwy'n cynnal y blog Cysylltiadau Arctig sy'n cyflwyno ymchwil academaidd a phynciau cymdeithasol o ranbarth yr Arctig . Roeddwn i'n Gyd-PI ar ddwy astudiaeth achos o fewn y Prosiect "Justnorth" a Chyd-Arweinydd y pecyn gwaith "Justice in Scale and Dimension". Ariannwyd "Justnorth" gan raglen Horizon 2020 yr UE (cytundeb grant 869327): www.justnorth.eu. Mae'r prosiect yn archwilio'r llu o systemau moesegol sy'n cydfodoli yn yr Arctig, fel man cychwyn i asesu hyfywedd normadol a chynaliadwyedd hirdymor gweithgareddau economaidd yn y rhanbarth a chyflawni Nodau Datblygu Cynaliadwy y Cenhedloedd Unedig. Mae tensiynau geopolitical cynyddol ymhlith rhai o wladwriaethau yr Arctig yn cynyddu pwysigrwydd parchu gwahanol systemau gwerth wrth ddod o hyd i werthoedd cyffredin i helpu i gryfhau'r cysylltiadau rhwng endidau Arctig ac endidau nad ydynt yn yr Arctig. Mae bylchau ymarfer a pholisi sylweddol yng ngweithgareddau economaidd presennol yr Arctig wedi arwain at ddatblygiad sy'n anghynaladwy. Trwy ddeall arferion cyfredol o ddatblygu yn yr Arctig trwy lens 18 o astudiaethau achos, datblygodd "Justnorth" fframweithiau cysyniadol, mynegeion ac offeryn trafod, ar gyfer cysoni systemau moeseg a gwerth lluosog.

2. Gwleidyddiaeth Cyfrifoldeb
Mae cyfrifoldeb wedi dod i'r amlwg fel y cysyniad canolog mewn gwleidyddiaeth fyd-eang yn ystod y degawdau diwethaf, gan newid y ffyrdd y mae llywodraethu yn gweithio ar draws sawl lefel, safleoedd a meysydd materion i ddatrys gwrthdaro o fewn a rhwng cymdeithasau. Ar gyfer un, mae 'cyfrifoldeb' yn ymwneud â chwestiynau economi wleidyddol fyd-eang yn nhermau 'cyfrifoldeb corfforaethol', a dimensiynau lluosog o gynaliadwyedd, gan gynnwys materion hawliau dynol mewn prosesau cynhyrchu, yn ogystal ag echdynnu a defnyddio adnoddau. Yn yr un modd, mae'r 'cyfrifoldeb i amddiffyn' wedi newid y berthynas rhwng gwladwriaethau yn fyd-eang yn ogystal â chysylltiadau gwladwriaeth-dinasyddion lleol, gan effeithio ar ein dealltwriaeth o sofraniaeth y wladwriaeth a diogelwch dynol. Yn olaf, mae 'cyfrifoldeb cyffredin ond gwahaniaethol' wedi galluogi gwladwriaethau y gogledd byd-eang a'r de byd-eang i gytuno i fframwaith ar gyfer llywodraethu amgylcheddol sy'n ystyried lefelau hanesyddol gweithgareddau diwydiannol. Nid yw 'cyfrifoldeb' mor eang yn ddi-ddadleuon, fodd bynnag, yn creu gweoedd newydd o berthynas rhwng actorion a gwrthrychau cyfrifoldeb. Mae'n gofyn am ymchwil i graffu ar sylfeini normadol gwleidyddiaeth fyd-eang.

3. Cysyniadau a damcaniaethau gwleidyddiaeth fyd-eang
Nid yw fframweithiau rheoleiddio, normau, strwythurau sefydliadol, a sefydliadau rhyngwladol yn dod i'r amlwg allan o'r awyr. Maent yn cael eu creu, eu creu a'u newid mewn rhyngweithio dynol, sy'n seiliedig ar arferion creu ystyr. Gan dynnu ar fethodoleg hermeneutig, mae'r ymchwil hon yn pontio lefelau lleol a byd-eang i dynnu sylw at ddeinameg pŵer yn ogystal â llwybrau syniadol wrth ddylunio sefydliadau llywodraethu.
