Gyrfa Ymchwil
Roedd fy ymchwil wyddonol yn canolbwyntio ar astudiaethau epidemioleg sy'n canolbwyntio ar HPV i lywio polisi a newidiadau i frechu HPV a darparu rhaglenni sgrinio serfigol. Arweiniais astudiaethau ar y cyd â Sgrinio Serfigol Cymru i adolygu'r oedran y dylid gwahodd menywod am y tro cyntaf i gael eu sgrinio. Cyfrannodd hyn at y ddarpariaeth yn newid o 20 oed i 25 oed yn dilyn cyflwyno'r brechlyn HPV er mwyn osgoi triniaeth ddiangen mewn menywod ifanc.
Dadleuais o blaid rhaglen frechu niwtral o ran rhywedd mewn dadl a gyhoeddwyd yn y BMJ yn 2009 gan dynnu sylw at fanteision cymdeithasol ehangach imiwnedd buches a chost-effeithiolrwydd hirdymor. Cyfrannais at ymchwil i faich clefyd sy'n gysylltiedig â HPV mewn dynion ac yn dilyn argymhelliad JCVI i frechu bechgyn, cefais wahoddiad gan y BMJ i ysgrifennu golygyddol dilynol i'm cyhoeddiad gwreiddiol, gan dynnu sylw at arwyddocâd y newid hwn i bolisi.
Estynnwyd fy ymchwil i HPV yn rhyngwladol gyda chydweithrediadau byd-eang yn edrych ar linachau o wahanol fathau o HPV a risg oncogenic cysylltiedig ledled y byd.
Addysgu
Dysgu Seiliedig ar Faterion (2013-2018)
Yn 2013, roeddwn i'n rhan o'r gyfadran Dysgu Seiliedig ar Achosion (CBL) cyntaf a oedd yn gyfrifol am ddarparu addysgu grwpiau bach i fyfyrwyr israddedig meddygol blwyddyn gyntaf yn y cwricwlwm newydd C21 MB BCh. Estynnais hwylusydd i fyfyrwyr meddygol mynediad cyntaf, ail flwyddyn a graddedig sy'n cwmpasu dau semester bob blwyddyn academaidd hyd at 2018 pan ddechreuais rôl Deon EDI yn Swyddfa'r Is-ganghellor.
Cyfarwyddwr Cydran a Ddewisir gan Fyfyrwyr (SSCs) yn MB BCh (2013-2018)
Fy amcan cyntaf fel Cyfarwyddwr SSC oedd adolygu'r rhaglen 5 mlynedd SSC, gan ddarparu ar gyfer 1,500 o fyfyrwyr bob blwyddyn academaidd yn yr hyn a oedd yn rhaglen newydd C21 MB BCh. Nid oedd SSCs wedi'i gydlynu'n hydredol â darpariaeth flaenorol ym Mlynyddoedd 1-2 dan arweiniad BIOSI a Blynyddoedd 3-5 dan arweiniad MEDIC. Gan ddatblygu tîm SSC i gefnogi'r fframwaith hwn, gwnaethom gyd-fynd â'r pum mlynedd i alluogi dilyniant naturiol i fyfyrwyr ddatblygu eu setiau sgiliau a hwyluso dylunio eu prosiectau eu hunain mewn maes o ddiddordeb.

Rwyf wedi bod yn Diwtor Personol ers ymuno â'r Brifysgol ym mis Rhagfyr 2000, gan ymgymryd â'r holl hyfforddiant presennol ac mae gennyf oddeutu 20 o diwtoriaid personol ar hyn o bryd.
Bywgraffiad
Enillais radd BSc (Anrh) Dosbarth Cyntaf mewn Geneteg Foleciwlaidd mewn Biotechnoleg ym Mhrifysgol Sussex gyda blwyddyn mewn diwydiant yn NowElanco. Yna cwblheais PhD ar amrywiad meinwe HIV-1 a throsiaeth celloedd yng Ngholeg Prifysgol Llundain cyn symud i Brifysgol Caerdydd ar gyfer fy swydd ymchwilydd gyrfa gynnar gyntaf yn yr Adran Microbioleg Feddygol gan ddatblygu profion moleciwlaidd amser real ar gyfer canfod firysau anadlol.
Cefais fy mhenodi'n Ddarlithydd yn yr Adran Obstetreg a Gynaecoleg lle newidiodd fy ffocws ymchwil i haint HPV a chanser gan edrych ar epidemioleg ac effaith y rhaglen frechu HPV ar raglenni sgrinio serfigol ac yn ddiweddarach cefais fy nyrchafu yn Uwch Ddarlithydd yn seiliedig ar Ragoriaeth mewn Ymchwil.
Yn 2013, symudais i'r Ganolfan Addysg Feddygol gan gymryd rôl arweiniol yn y cwricwlwm meddygol fel Cyfarwyddwr yr Elfen a Ddewisir gan Fyfyrwyr.
Yn 2016, cefais fy mhenodi'n Is-Ddeon EDI yn yr Ysgol Meddygaeth gyda phedwar nod allweddol:
- Cefnogi, datblygu a hyrwyddo EDI yn ymarferol.
- Hyrwyddo cydraddoldeb rhywiol wrth ddatblygu gyrfa.
- Dileu pob math o wahaniaethu, aflonyddu ac erledigaeth.
- Datblygu amgylchedd gwaith a diwylliant cadarnhaol cynaliadwy yn seiliedig ar urddas, cwrteisi a pharch.
Rhwng mis Gorffennaf 2018 a mis Mehefin 2021, cefais fy mhenodi'n Ddeon EDI ar gyfer y Brifysgol yn Swyddfa'r Is-ganghellor.
Arweiniais ddatblygiad a chyflawniad strategaeth a gweithgareddau EDI y Brifysgol a oedd yn cynnwys:
- Hyrwyddo cyfraniad unigol ac ar y cyd i hyrwyddo EDI ar draws y Brifysgol.
- Gweithredu'r weledigaeth i ddod yn Brifysgol sy'n darparu cyflog cyfartal, triniaeth deg a chyfle i bawb ac sy'n creu cymuned agored a chynhwysol sy'n annog amrywiaeth.
- Llunio'r datblygiad strategol a darparu arweinyddiaeth academaidd i gyflawni Cynllun Cydraddoldeb Strategol y Brifysgol 2020-2024 (SEP).
- Gweithio gyda Rhwydweithiau Cydraddoldeb Staff, Undeb Myfyrwyr ac Undebau Llafur i nodi a gweithredu gweithgareddau perthnasol.
- Cadeirio grŵp cysylltiadau EDI gyda chynrychiolwyr o bob ysgol ar draws y Brifysgol.
- Gweithio ar hyrwyddo a hyrwyddo EDI mewn perthynas â phrofiad myfyrwyr gyda Phrofiad Myfyrwyr PVC a Safonau Academaidd ac Undeb y Myfyrwyr. Roedd y gwaith yn cynnwys ffocws ar y bwlch dyfarnu Pobl Dduon, Asiaidd a Lleiafrifoedd Ethnig yn y Brifysgol, meincnodi i'r sector a datblygu deg argymhelliad ar gyfer newid gydag Uwch Brosiect Ymgysylltu â Staff: Dull Gweithredol o Gydraddoldeb Hil.
- Cyflawni a monitro cynnydd yn erbyn cynllun gweithredu Prifysgol Athena SWAN i gefnogi cydraddoldeb rhywiol.
- Cefnogi EDI o fewn y Fframwaith Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil gan gynnwys hyfforddiant i hyrwyddo diwylliant ymchwil cynhwysol, asesiadau effaith cydraddoldeb a chadeirydd y grŵp amgylchiadau unigol.
- Cynrychioli buddiannau'r Brifysgol ar bwyllgorau/gweithgorau mewnol ac allanol e.e. Cyd-weithio â'r CCHD ar y gwaith diweddar i aflonyddu hiliol yn y sector AU gyda Chaerdydd yn cydnabod bod ganddo ddull addawol gyda'r Panel Goruchwylio Cydraddoldeb Hiliol.
- Bod yn hyrwyddwr proffil uchel sy'n hwyluso gwelededd eang a hygyrchedd gwerthoedd, gweledigaeth a gweithgareddau penodol y Brifysgol i ddatblygu EDI trwy ymgysylltu'n weithredol yn uniongyrchol â staff a myfyrwyr.
Y tu allan i'r gwaith, cymhwysais fel athro ioga ac rwyf wedi bod yn tywys nifer o ddosbarthiadau gwahanol sydd wedi'u cynllunio i ymlacio a dadflino, hyrwyddo hyblygrwydd a chryfhau. Hefyd, mwynhewch lawer o gerdded yn yr awyr agored gyda'r cŵn, yn enwedig mynyddoedd a thraethau.
