Ymchwil
Rwy'n fyfyriwr PhD blwyddyn gyntaf gyda'r Sefydliad Archwilio Disgyrchiant yn Ysgol Ffiseg a Seryddiaeth Caerdydd. Mae fy nhraethawd ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar ddylunio ceudodau hidlo optegol ar gyfer darlleniad un-ffoton ar gyfer ymyriaduron pen bwrdd. Fy ngoruchwylwyr yw'r Athro Hartmut Grote, yr Athro Kate Dooley a Dr Keiko Kokeyama.
Yn y fersiwn ar raddfa fwy hwn o'r arbrawf QUEST, mae gan ddau interferomedr cydleoli hyd braich o 5 m yr un. I osgoi sŵn saethu ffoton, sef y ffynhonnell sŵn cyfyngol ar amleddau uchel, mae'r arbrawf hwn yn bwriadu defnyddio'r dechneg darllen ffoton sengl. Yn y dechneg hon, mae'r golau sy'n gadael porthladd allbwn yr interferomedr yn cael ei leihau i bwynt lle gall y synhwyrydd weld un ffoton yr eiliad. Gellir gwneud y gostyngiad hwn gan ddefnyddio cyfres o geudodau hidlo optegol. Gellir dylunio'r ceudodau hyn a'u tiwnio i drosglwyddo'r ffotonau sy'n cario signalau yn unig, sydd mor fach o ran nifer y gellir eu canfod gan synhwyrydd un ffoton.
