Rwy'n ddarlithydd, ymchwilydd a gwneuthurwr ffilmiau dogfen sy'n gweithio ar sensoriaeth drawswladol, cerddoriaeth boblogaidd, a llafur creadigol yn y byd Sinophone. O ffurfio bandiau yn ei arddegau i ddilyn ymchwil rhyngddisgyblaethol ar gerddoriaeth boblogaidd a'r cyfryngau, rwyf wedi bod â diddordeb ers amser maith yn y perthnasoedd cydblethu rhwng cerddoriaeth, gwleidyddiaeth, hunaniaeth, a phŵer diwylliannol, a sut mae'r grymoedd hyn yn siapio cynhyrchu, cylchrediad a defnydd cerddoriaeth boblogaidd ar draws y byd Sinophone.
Cwblheais fy MA a PhD yn yr Adran Gerddoriaeth ym Mhrifysgol Lerpwl, cartref y Sefydliad Cerddoriaeth Boblogaidd. Archwiliodd fy nhraethawd doethurol, Questions of Chineseness: A Study on China Wind Pop Music and the Post-1990 Generation in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and the UK, sut mae syniadau o 'Tsieineaidd' yn cael eu hadeiladu, eu cylchredeg a'u dehongli trwy gerddoriaeth bop China Wind a chynulleidfaoedd trawswladol. Gan dynnu ar waith maes ethnograffig a gynhaliwyd ar draws Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, a'r DU, mae fy ymchwil yn cyfuno astudiaethau cerddoriaeth boblogaidd, astudiaethau'r cyfryngau, cymdeithaseg ddiwylliannol, ac anthropoleg.
Ochr yn ochr â'm gyrfa academaidd, rwyf wedi gweithio'n helaeth ar draws y diwydiannau cerddoriaeth a'r cyfryngau yn Taiwan a'r DU ers 2012, gan gynnwys rolau fel newyddiadurwr cerddoriaeth a rheolwr datblygu busnes rhyngwladol. Rwyf wedi addysgu a chynnal ymchwil mewn sefydliadau gan gynnwys Prifysgol Lerpwl, Prifysgol Genedlaethol Taiwan, a Phrifysgol Genedlaethol Taiwan Normal. Roeddwn hefyd yn gweithio yn Liverpool Sound City ac Ostereo.

Gan gyfuno ymchwil ethnograffig â gwneud ffilmiau dogfen fel dull ymchwil, cyfarwyddais y rhaglen ddogfen ymchwil Silenced Sunrise: Taiwan's Music vs. The China Factor, sy'n archwilio'r pwysau sy'n wynebu cerddorion Taiwan wrth lywio marchnad Tsieina a thensiynau geopolitical ehangach yn niwydiannau diwylliannol Dwyrain Asia. Mae fy ngwaith yn pontio'r byd academaidd, ymgysylltu â'r cyhoedd, ac ymarfer creadigol trwy gyhoeddiadau, sgyrsiau, rhaglenni dogfen, ac ysgrifennu cyfryngau a gynhyrchir yn Saesneg a Tsieinëeg traddodiadol.
