Mae Kul Luintel wedi bod yn Athro Economeg yn Ysgol Busnes Caerdydd (CARBS) ers mis Medi 2006. Mae wedi gwasanaethu dau dymor fel Pennaeth yr Adran Economeg (Adran), o fis Medi 2012 i Fedi 2015 ac o Awst 2022 i Awst 2025, ac mae hefyd wedi bod yn aelod o Fwrdd Rheoli CARBS, gan gyfrannu at benderfyniadau strategol sy'n llywodraethu'r ysgol. Mae'n academydd profiadol gyda gwybodaeth a phrofiad helaeth mewn rheoli academaidd.
Cyn ymuno â Chaerdydd, roedd ganddo swyddi athro ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe (Ionawr 2005–Awst 2006) a Phrifysgol Brunel (Hydref 2001–Rhagfyr 2004).
Gwasanaethodd Kul fel aelod o CHUDE (Cynhadledd Penaethiaid Adrannau Economeg y DU) yn ystod ei ddau dymor pennaeth ac roedd yn aelod o'i Bwyllgor Gwaith rhwng 2014 a 2016. Yn CARBS, roedd yn Uwch Gynrychiolydd i'r Pwyllgor Ymchwil rhwng 2008 a 2013, gan chwarae rhan allweddol yn y paratoadau ar gyfer Fframwaith Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil (REF) 2014. Wedi'i gydnabod fel un o 'REF Gurus' CARBS, gwnaeth gyfraniadau sylweddol i ddatblygu achosion effaith ymchwil a templedi amgylchedd ymchwil, yn ogystal â chymedroli cyflwyniadau REF gan ysgolion eraill.
