Steve Martin yw Cyfarwyddwr Canolfan Polisi Cyhoeddus Cymru ac Athro Polisi Cyhoeddus a Rheolaeth yn Ysgol Busnes Caerdydd.
Mae ganddo hanes hir a llwyddiannus o sefydlu ac arwain timau ymchwil hynod effeithiol a darparu cyngor strategol i adrannau'r llywodraeth a chyrff cyhoeddus.
Mae Canolfan Polisi Cyhoeddus Cymru yn gweithio gydag ymchwilwyr blaenllaw i ddarparu tystiolaeth hygyrch, awdurdodol ac annibynnol i lunwyr polisi ac arweinwyr gwasanaethau cyhoeddus ar heriau cymdeithasol mawr. Mae'r dull a arweinir gan y galw o gefnogi polisi sy'n seiliedig ar dystiolaeth y mae Steve a'i gydweithwyr wedi'i arloesi wedi denu cydnabyddiaeth a diddordeb cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol gan lywodraethau a phrifysgolion ledled y byd.
Cyn ei rôl bresennol, sefydlodd a chyfarwyddodd Steve y Ganolfan Ymchwil Llywodraeth Leol a Rhanbarthol, gan chwarae rhan ganolog yn sefydlu enw da rhyngwladol Prifysgol Caerdydd am ymchwil polisi cyhoeddus sy'n arwain y byd. Cyn dod i Gaerdydd bu'n arwain Consortiwm Ymchwil yr Awdurdod Lleol yn Ysgol Fusnes Warwick lle bu'n dysgu polisi cyhoeddus a strategaeth fusnes.
Mae Steve wedi arwain mwy na 50 o raglenni ymchwil ar raddfa fawr sydd wedi denu mwy na £25 miliwn o gyllid gan gynghorau ailgydio, y Comisiwn Ewropeaidd, Sefydliad Joseph Rowntree, Ymddiriedolaeth Leverhulme, adrannau llywodraeth ganolog y DU ac ystod eang o gyrff cyhoeddus.
Mae ei ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar lunio polisïau ac ymchwil impac sy'n seiliedig ar dystiolaeth ac mae wedi cyhoeddi mwy na 90 o bapurau mewn cyfnodolion a adolygir gan gymheiriaid, 30 o benodau llyfrau a 200 o adroddiadau a gomisiynwyd.

Mae fy ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar bolisi cyhoeddus ac effaith ymchwil sy'n seiliedig ar dystiolaeth. Mae gen i ddiddordeb arbennig mewn polisi, gwella perfformiad ac arolygu gwasanaethau cyhoeddus yn allanol.

Addysgu
Additional teaching
Steve teaches on the Cardiff's Masters of Public Administration programme, which he played a leading role in establishing in 2005. He also contributes to the IDeA's Leadership Programme and regularly speaks at national conferences on service improvement and local government policy.
He has provided in-house training for the National Audit Office and a range of local authorities, and he led the 'Understanding Whitehall' for senior local authority officers and elected members. He was a module leader on the European Union's MEANS programme, providing training in evaluation methods to senior Commission officials. He has taught MBA and undergraduate programmes at Aston, Birmingham and Warwick Universities and served as external examiner for Masters and Doctoral programmes at Durham University, Birmingham University and Trinity College Dublin.
