Trwy ddelweddu a dadansoddiad cemegol o greigiau folcanig a phlwtonig a'u mwynau a'u sbectol gyfansoddol, rwy'n anelu at ddeall sut mae magmau yn esblygu yn y gramen, y pwysau a'r tymheredd y maent yn cael eu storio, a'r goblygiadau ar gyfer prosesau ffrwydrol. Rwyf wedi gweithio ar ystod eang o systemau folcanig o'r Cascades, yr Andes a'r arc Sumatra.
Lle bo hynny'n bosibl, rwy'n defnyddio petroleg arbrofol i ddyblygu amodau storio magma yn y gramen ac i gysylltu'r canfyddiadau arbrofol hyn â chreigiau naturiol. Trwy gynorthwyo defnyddwyr microsgopeg electron llai profiadol gyda'u hymchwil, rwyf wedi bod yn ymwneud ag ystod o brosiectau. Yn y Gwyddorau Daear, mae'r rhain yn cynnwys ymchwiliadau i miinerals metalliferous mewn dyddodion mwynau, potensial ar gyfer dal a storio carbon mewn blaenau glo, a ffurfio'r gramen gyfandirol yn y Ddaear Gynnar. Rwyf wedi cyd-oruchwylio prosiect PhD sy'n canolbwyntio ar dwf grisial mewn cregyn bylchog enfawr mewn ymateb i newid yn yr hinsawdd gan ddefnyddio EBSD.
