Rwy'n Ddarlithydd mewn Peirianneg Sifil ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, lle rwyf yr un mor gyfrifol am ymchwil ac addysgu mewn meysydd rhyngddisgyblaethol mewn Peirianneg Strwythurol, Pensaernïaeth a Pheirianneg Amgylcheddol. Mae gen i brofiad eang mewn ymchwil ddadansoddol, cyfrifiadol ac arbrofol, gan gynnwys asesu maes a dulliau profi labordy ar briddoedd, deunyddiau adeiladu a strwythurau.
Rwy'n aelod o RESCOM (Strwythurau Adnewyddadwy a Deunyddiau COnstruction), grŵp ymchwil ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd sy'n anelu at greu deunyddiau seilwaith carbon isel, ynni effeithlon a gwydn, a strwythurau trwy gyfrwng i) i asesu risg a cholli adeiladau sengl, ii) modelu risg trychineb ad-hoc i ddeall effaith bygythiadau naturiol a dynol ar bortffolios adeiladau a seilweithiau a iii) profion labordy i nodweddu cemegol, perfformiad ffisegol a mecanyddol o ddeunyddiau cerrig a choncrit arloesol a ffurfiau cyfansawdd ar gyfer strwythurau gwydn, a chynaliadwy.
Mae gen i gefndir cryf mewn Peirianneg a Phensaernïaeth Strwythurol a phrofiad ymarferol pwysig mewn datblygu rhyngwladol a gafwyd yn gweithio ym maes Diwydiant (e.e., AECOM, Banc y Byd) a'r byd academaidd (ee, Prifysgol Caerdydd, Prifysgol Bryste, Coleg Prifysgol Llundain (UCL), Prifysgol Caerfaddon) mewn prosiectau byd-eang (ee, Ewrop, y Dwyrain Canol, Affrica, a De America) wedi'i dargedu i ddylunio a datblygu byd gwell trwy atebion peirianneg newydd a lliniaru cynaliadwy strategaethau i wella gwytnwch a lleihau'r risgiau a achosir gan drychinebau naturiol.

Ymchwil
Mae fy ymchwil yn cefnogi gwledydd i ddylunio a gweithredu buddsoddiadau amrywiol ar gyfer lleihau risg a pharodrwydd. Ymhlith gwahanol ddulliau, profwyd bod gwella fframwaith rheoleiddio adeiladu a mecanwaith gweithredu a chapasiti yn un o ddulliau cost-effeithiol o leihau risgiau hinsawdd a thrychinebau sylfaenol o ddaeargrynfeydd, tirlithriadau, storfeydd, ar y cyd â buddsoddiadau ar gyfer gwelliannau strwythurol corfforol / ôl-osodiadau. Dros y deng mlynedd diwethaf, mae fy ngwaith wedi cefnogi mwy na 10 o wledydd sy'n rhychwantu Dwyrain Asia, rhanbarthau De Asia, y Dwyrain Canol a Gogledd Affrica, ac Affrica.
Gan ymateb i anghenion cynyddol mewn gwledydd sy'n datblygu, mae fy niddordeb ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar:
- Cynnal dadansoddiad cyfrifiadurol datblygedig ar gyfer datrysiadau strwythurol i gefnogi cynnal a chadw, atgyweirio, ôl-osod ac ailddefnyddio adeiladau presennol.
- Hyrwyddo modelu i ddarparu atebion strwythurol ar gyfer hyrwyddo gwytnwch, technegau adeiladu cynaliadwy i wledydd neu dimau tasg reginal sy'n arwain dylunio a gweithredu prosiectau trefol
- Datblygu mapiau risg, adlewyrchu gwybodaeth am berygl agored i niwed, i safon dylunio mewn gwledydd penodol.
- Gweithredu fframwaith lliniaru a rheoli risg gwledydd sy'n dueddol o gadwyni aml-berygl (ee, daeargrynfeydd, stormydd gwynt, a thirlithriadau) i asesu amlygiad i beryglon, mynd i'r afael â risgiau trychinebau a chynllunio datrysiadau lliniaru peirianyddol.
- Cyfrannu at offer a methodolegau rheoli risg gyda'r nod o ddatblygu offer a methodolegau ad-hoc i ymgorffori'r wybodaeth fyd-eang/lleol a helpu i nodi bylchau beirniadol a darparu argymhellion ar gyfer creu strwythurau mwy diogel a gwyrdd.
