Uwch Ddarlithydd
Trosolwyg
Rwy'n Uwch-ddarlithydd ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd ac yn Gyfarwyddwr Canolfan Ymchwil Tyrbinau Nwy yr Ysgol Peirianneg. Mae fy ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar ddatblygu a nodweddu tanwydd amgen ar gyfer ceisiadau trafnidiaeth a phŵer.
Cyrhaeddwyd fy PhD trwy brosiect a ariannwyd gan EPSRC i werthuso safle ynni-ddwys a phenderfynu a oes modd canoli cynhyrchu trydan a dosbarthu stêm yn well i'w yfed yn lleol o wres gwastraff a thanwydd sgil-gynnyrch.
O fewn Canolfan Ymchwil i Ynni, Gwastraff a'r Amgylchedd yng Nghaerdydd, mae fy ngwaith cyfoes yn cwmpasu agweddau sylfaenol ar hylosgi o fewn systemau ynni tanwydd wedi'u datgarboneiddio, a lleihau cynhyrchu allyriadau niweidiol. Mae gen i brofiad gydag ystod o gymwysiadau trosglwyddo ynni, gan gynnwys tanwydd di-garbon fel H2 a NH3, Dal a Storio Carbon (CCS), tanwydd sgil-gynnyrch gwastraff, a cheisiadau Awyrofod.
Rwyf wedi cyfrannu ymchwil i brosiectau a ariennir gan EPSRC, Innovate UK, WEFO, a BEIS, a alluogwyd trwy ddatblygu cyfleusterau arbrofol a diagnosteg uwch yn y Ganolfan Ymchwil Tyrbinau Nwy. Mae hyn wedi arwain at dderbyn gwobr Hinshelwood 2020 am waith teilyngdod ym maes llosgi.

Cefais fy nghyflogi'n agos fel Cynorthwy-ydd Ymchwil ar ôl cwblhau gwaith israddedig a wnaed ar gyfer fy ngradd Peirianneg Integredig. Roedd y prosiect yn gofyn am nodweddu cyfraddau ocsideiddio fferrus, yn enwedig arddangos a mesur dylanwad awtocatalytig o fewn atebion ferric colloidal. Cafodd yr astudiaeth dderbyniad da ac arweiniodd at gymhwyso a chaffael cyllid ychwanegol ac ymchwil pellach cyn cwblhau fy ngradd Meistr.
Wedi hynny, gwnes gais i ymgymryd ag ymchwil doethurol ar brosiect a ariennir gan EPSRC, gan fonitro/optimeiddio cynhyrchu ynni ar y safle a'i ddefnyddio ar gyfer cyfleuster integredig mawr. Fy nghylch gwaith o fewn y tîm amlddisgyblaethol oedd astudio nwyon sy'n gynhenid i'r broses gwneud dur integredig, gan arwain at ymchwil ym maes hylosgi sylfaenol a chymhwysol. Ar yr adeg hon, dechreuais weithio gyda myfyrwyr Meistr ac Israddedigion ar eu prosiectau; Datblygu dealltwriaeth o'r adwaith cineteg sy'n gysylltiedig â lluosogi fflam a defnyddio tanwydd amgen. Caniateir canlyniadau ar gyfer dealltwriaeth fanwl o ymddygiad hylosgi mewn perthynas â lleihau ansefydlogrwydd gweithredol o fewn systemau diwydiannol ymarferol.
Ar ôl ennill fy PhD, cymerais swydd Cydymaith Ymchwil cyntaf, yna yn Gymrawd yng Nghanolfan Ymchwil Tyrbinau Nwy yr Ysgol Peirianneg sy'n ymchwilio i agweddau ar losgi sylfaenol a chymhwysol. Roedd y rôl yn gofyn am weithredu a dylunio cyfleusterau arbrofol a rhaglenni profi a gyfrannodd at brosiectau cydweithredol a ariennir gan gyrff allanol, a fy ymchwil newydd fy hun. Rwyf wedi cyfrannu at brosiectau a ddyfarnwyd gan sawl corff ariannu gan gynnwys EPSRC, y Bwrdd Strategaeth Technoleg (Innovate UK) a'r UE, gan gydweithio â phartneriaid diwydiannol blaenllaw. Mae gwaith crynodol wedi canolbwyntio ar losgi sylfaenol a chymhwysol. Mae'r agweddau a astudiwyd yn cynnwys: Fflamau chwyrnu a gwrthlif mewn amodau uchel ar gyfer cymwysiadau tyrbinau nwy, tanwydd di-garbon a bio-deillio amgen, fflamau cam/trylediad, lleihau allyriadau niweidiol, lluosogi fflam laminaidd a chythryblus, a cheineteg cemegol gyda dilysu a datblygu mecanweithiau adwaith.
