Meysam Qadrdan is a Lecturer in Energy Networks and Systems at Cardiff University. Before starting his current role in January 2015, he spent one year at Imperial College and two years at Cardiff University as Research Associate. Meysam Qadrdan obtained his PhD from Cardiff University, UK (2012), MSc in Energy Systems Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran (2008) and BSc in Physics from Ferdowsi University, Iran (2005). He also worked as an Energy Consultant for two years prior moving to Cardiff to pursue his PhD degree. His research area covers expansion and operational planning of interdependent energy networks at different scales from community to national and international level. Meysam Qadrdan develops optimisation and simulation modelling tool to investigate: Optimal generation scheduling under wind forecast uncertainty Interactions between gas, electricity and heat supply systems Expansion planning of energy infrastructure under uncertainty The role of gas networks in transitioning to low carbon energy systems
Meysam has been involved in a number of high profile research projects looking at modelling and analysis of integrated energy supply and demand such as UK Infrastructure Transition research Consortium (ITRC) and Whole System Energy Modelling consortium (WholeSEM). He has published more than 20 papers in international journals and conferences. He also co-authored a book chapter entitled “Energy Supply and Demand” which is a chapter of the book “The Future of National Infrastructure”, published by Cambridge University Press.
