Dr. Muhammad Riaz accomplished his MSc in Medical Statistics from University of Leicester, UK  and PhD from St. Georges University of London, UK. He has a broad range of experience of research in health sciences. Prior to joining CTR at Cardiff University, he worked at various universities including Kings College London, St. Georges University of London, University of Leicester, Cambridge University, King Fahad Medical city Saudi Arabia, University of Malakand Pakistan, The Open University UK, Quaid-i-Azam University Pakistan and Qatar University on diverse research projects. He has been the co-author of more than 50 manuscripts published in good or even in high impact journals.
He has over 10 years research experience in health sciences; the research work include applied biostatistics & epidemiology: data management, collaboration on the design of studies in health sciences including clinical trials and observational studies, designing statistical analyses, conducting statistical analyses using a broad range of regression models including survival analysis, statistical genetics, statistical computing programming, systematic reviews and meta-analysis and writing manuscripts for publication. His current interest lies in the design and analysis of clinical trials in health science. Research topics may include physical activity, smoking cessation, psychiatry, infectious disease such as COVID-19 and hepatitis C, Cancer, allergies, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, paediatric and perinatal epidemiology etc.

Dr. Riaz recently worked as an Assistant Professor in Public Health (Biostatistics) at the department of public health, Qatar University, where he has taught two courses, Research Design and Methods, and Continuous Data Analysis to the MPH students. Prior to this job, he worked as assistant professor at university of Malakand and Quaid-i-Azam University in Pakistan and taught courses in statistics to the BS and MS students. He is intersted in teaching applied medical statistics and epidemiology at undergradaute and post graduate levels and weclome students who need a biostatistical superviosor for there thesis in health sciences. Preveiously, he has been a supervisor/co-supervior for MSc thesis in public health and MS thesis in statistics.
