Dylai darpar fyfyrwyr fod â chefndir cryf mewn mecaneg gyfrifiadurol, mathemateg gymhwysol, neu ddisgyblaethau peirianneg cysylltiedig. Byddai profiad gyda dulliau elfen gyfyngedig, rhaglennu gwyddonol (Python / MATLAB), a fframweithiau dysgu peiriannau yn fanteisiol.
