Ymchwil
Mae fy ymchwil yn archwilio'r gyfraith o amrywiaeth o wahanol safbwyntiau disgyblu. Mae ganddo bedwar prif gyfeiriad:
Y Gyfraith a Chrefydd
Yn gyntaf, canolbwyntiodd fy ymchwil yn wreiddiol ar astudio'r Gyfraith a Chrefydd. Dyma oedd ffocws fy llyfr Law and Religion (Gwasg Prifysgol Caergrawnt, 2011), y gwerslyfr cyntaf yn y maes. Mae fy ngwaith wedi gosod yr agenda ar gyfer astudio'r Gyfraith a Chrefydd ac wedi archwilio'r fframwaith cyfreithiol sy'n dod i'r amlwg ynghylch crefydd sy'n archwilio sut mae hawliau dynol, gwahaniaethu a chyfreithiau troseddol yn rhyngweithio â chrefydd. Mae fy ngwaith hefyd wedi dadansoddi sut mae crefydd yn cael ei diffinio'n gyfreithiol a'r diffiniad o gred. Mae fy ngwaith wedi dadlau bod y newidiadau cyfreithiol sylweddol sydd wedi digwydd yn yr unfed ganrif ar hugain yn golygu bod y Gyfraith a Chrefydd bellach yn bodoli fel is-ddisgyblaeth academaidd fel Cyfraith Teulu neu Gyfraith Chwaraeon. Mae hyn wedi bod yn ganolbwynt i'r gweithiau golygedig Law and Religion: Critical Concepts in Law (Routledge, 2017), Leading Works in Law and Religion (Routledge 2019) a Llawlyfr Ymchwil ar Ddulliau Rhyngddisgyblaethol i'r Gyfraith a Chrefydd (Edward Elgar, 2019). Rwy'n Rheolwr Olygydd y ICLARS Series on Law and Religion, a gyhoeddwyd gan Routledge.

Cyfraith Crefydd a Theulu
Yn ail, mae'r rhyngweithio rhwng crefydd, y gyfraith a'r teulu wedi dod i'r amlwg fel ffocws penodol yn fy ngwaith. Dyma oedd ffocws fy llyfr Religion and Marriage Law: The Need for Reform a ddarparodd y canllaw hygyrch cyntaf ar sut mae cyfraith priodas gyfoes yn rhyngweithio â chrefydd, nodi pwyntiau pwysau a nodi cynigion ar gyfer diwygio. Mae fy ngwaith yn y maes hwn wedi cynnwys ymchwil ar y rhyngweithio rhwng cyfraith crefydd a chyfraith priodas / ysgariad yn benodol archwilio cydnabyddiaeth gyfreithiol tribiwnlysoedd crefyddol. Gan adeiladu ar y prosiect empirig Cydlyniant Cymdeithasol a Chyfraith Sifil a ariennir gan Raglen Crefydd a Chymdeithas yr AHRC/ESRC, mae fy ngwaith diweddar wedi cynnwys gwaith wedi'i olygu ar Grefydd a Phlwraliaeth Gyfreithiol (Ashgate, 2015) o fewn y gyfres rhyngddisgyblaethol Crefydd a Chymdeithas ac ystod o gyhoeddiadau sydd wedi ceisio deall lle tribiwnlysoedd crefyddol gan ddefnyddio ystod o ddulliau damcaniaethol gan gynnwys gwaith Ayelet Shasar ar Lywodraethu ar y Cyd, Damcaniaeth Systemau Niklas Luhmann a Theori Contract Perthynol Ffeministaidd Sharon Thompson. Mae fy ngwaith yn y maes hwn hefyd wedi archwilio'r gyfraith ar grefydd mewn ysgolion. Mae fy llyfr Religion in Schools: Learning Lessons from Wales yn archwilio diwygiadau diweddar yng Nghymru gan eu gosod yn eu cyd-destun hanesyddol.

Dulliau rhyngddisgyblaethol o'r gyfraith
Yn drydydd, mae fy ngwaith wedi archwilio'r berthynas rhwng astudiaeth gyfreithiol a chymdeithasegol crefydd. Dyma oedd ffocws fy monograff Religion, Law and Society (Gwasg Prifysgol Caergrawnt, 2014) o fewn Cambridge Studies of Law and Society . Roedd hyn yn dadlau dros fwy o gydweithio rhwng dulliau cyfreithiol a chymdeithasegol o ymdrin â chrefydd ar yr amod bod cyfraniadau unigryw pob disgyblaeth yn cael eu cadw. Mae gwaith diweddar wedi canolbwyntio ar rinweddau a phosibiliadau gwaith rhyngddisgyblaethol yn gyffredinol yn y Gyfraith. Mae hyn wedi cynnwys y gwaith golygedig The Confluence of Law and Religion (Gwasg Prifysgol Caergrawnt, 2019) a chyhoeddiadau ar Gyfraith a Chrefydd sy'n canolbwyntio ar ddulliau athronyddol a'r Llawlyfr Ymchwil ar Ymagweddau rhyngddisgyblaethol at y Gyfraith a Chrefydd (Edward Elgar, 2019) sy'n cynnwys safbwyntiau hanesyddol, cymdeithasegol, gwleidyddol a diwinyddol. Rwy'n Olygydd Cyfres Dadansoddi Gwaith Arweiniol yn y Gyfraith, a gyhoeddwyd gan Routledge. Bydd y gyfres lyfrau hon yn edrych ar sut mae is-ddisgyblaethau cyfreithiol penodol wedi datblygu drwy archwilio'r gweithiau blaenllaw sydd wedi llunio, datblygu ac ar adegau meysydd astudio cyfyng: Manylion pellach

Cyfraith a Hanes
Yn bedwerydd, mae fy niddordeb mewn ymagweddau rhyngddisgyblaethol at y Gyfraith wedi arwain at ymchwil ar y berthynas rhwng y Gyfraith a Hanes. Dyma ffocws fy monograff ar Hanes Cyfreithiol Gwrthdroadol: Maniffesto ar gyfer Dyfodol Addysg Gyfreithiol sy'n dadlau y dylai hanes fod wrth wraidd y cwricwlwm cyfraith. Yn bell o fod yn hynafol, elitaidd a diflas, mae safbwyntiau hanesyddol ar y gyfraith yn ymwthiol a dylent fod yn wrthdroadol. Mae fy ymchwil arall yn y maes hwn wedi cynnwys y gwaith golygedig Law and History : Critical Concepts in Law sy'n cynnwys traethawd rhagarweiniol 'Textual and Contextual Legal History' sy'n archwilio sut mae rhaniadau o fewn Hanes y Gyfraith wedi arwain at ymyleiddio dulliau hanesyddol yn Ysgolion y Gyfraith yn y DU. Gyda Dr Sharon Thompson, fi yw Cyd-sylfaenydd a Chydlynydd y Gyfraith a Hanes Grŵp Ymchwil. Gan weithio gyda chydweithwyr mewn Canolfannau ym Mryste a Chaerwysg, mae hyn yn rhedeg Rhwydwaith Cyfraith a Hanes =- cyfres o weminarau ar-lein. Mae hefyd yn gartref i gyfres o lyfrau newydd, a gyhoeddwyd gan Routledge: Transforming Legal Histories. Nod hyn yw gosod astudio'r gyfraith hanesyddol wrth wraidd cwricwlwm y gyfraith. Fe'i cynlluniwyd i arddangos ysgolheictod sy'n defnyddio damcaniaeth, dulliau neu ddulliau hanesyddol i ddadansoddi cyfraith a newid cyfreithiol ac wedi'i anelu, nid yn unig at haneswyr cyfreithiol ond mewn darllenwyr cyfreithiol cyffredinol, gan archwilio ac ehangu dimensiwn hanesyddol meysydd allweddol ysgolheictod cyfreithiol. Golygyddion y gyfres yw'r Athro Lydia Hayes, Dr Katie Richards, Dr Sharon Thompson a finnau: Manylion pellach

Addysgu
Rwy'n addysgu ar fodiwlau israddedig LLB ar Gyfraith Droseddol a Hanes Cyfreithiol:
Cyfraith Droseddol
Mae hwn yn fodiwl blwyddyn gyntaf orfodol. Un o nodweddion nifer o gymdeithasau yw gorfodi safonau ymddygiad trwy gosbau a reoleiddir gan y wladwriaeth. Mae'r modiwl hwn yn ymdrin â'r hyn y mae'n rhaid ei brofi yn erbyn diffynyddion mewn treialon troseddol yng Nghymru a Lloegr cyn y gallant gael eu cosbi o'r fath. Beth bynnag fo'r drosedd y cyhuddir diffynyddion â hi, mae rhai materion y mae'n rhaid eu profi, fel rheol gyffredinol. Mae'r modiwl yn ymdrin ag 'egwyddorion cyffredinol' cyfraith droseddol, rhannau cyfansoddol troseddau penodedig a gweithredu cyfraith droseddol mewn cyd-destun.
Hanes Cyfreithiol
Mae hwn yn fodiwl dewisol yn yr ail flwyddyn a'r flwyddyn olaf. Mae'r modiwl hwn yn archwilio datblygiad Cyfraith Lloegr o'r Goncwest Normanaidd hyd heddiw. Mae'n canolbwyntio ar hanes y system gyfreithiol ac ar athrawiaethau a syniadau cyfreithiol. Y prif feysydd sy'n cael eu hastudio yw hanes cyfansoddiadol a datblygiad hanesyddol y system gyfreithiol ei hun; hanes cyfraith tir a'r mathau o weithredu; datblygu cyfraith rhwymedigaethau Lloegr i mewn i ddau faes camwedd a chontract o'u gwreiddiau cyffredin yng ngweithredoedd tresmasu ac achos; a datblygu Hanes y Gyfraith fel maes astudio, gan gynnwys gwahanol fathau o Hanes Cyfreithiol megis Hanes Cyfreithiol Ffeministaidd. Drwy gydol y cyfnod hwn, bydd y datblygiadau cyfreithiol yn gysylltiedig â newidiadau gwleidyddol, economaidd, cymdeithasol a deallusol yng Nghymru a Lloegr.
