Before I came to Cardiff I worked at the German Department at the University of Kassel in in Germany as a Research Assistant and Lecturer in the field of Modern German Literature and Language. At Cardiff University I started as a Foreign Language Assistant for German in the year 2001, since than I became a Language Tutor and later a University Teacher at the School of Modern Languages. Besides my teaching and research responsibilities, I deal with various administrative, curriculum design and other obligations.

I have a distinguished track record of reserach in the field of modern German literature.

My primary research interests lie in modern German literature,- literary studies, comparative literature and linguistics and translation studies. I am a member of the research unit: Borders and bodies at the School of Modern Languages.

I am a member of the Board of the Gerhart Hauptmann Gesellschaft, a member of the Goethe Society, a member of ESRA Shakespeare Society and of GSTF [Global Science and Technology Forum].

My research area is modern German literature, especially the second half of the 18th century the 19 century and the first half of the 20th century. I have published books, book chapters, in periodicals and open access online journals and enceclopedias. Currently I am working on a book dealing with the first half of the 20th century and different essays.

I attended, organised and participated in conferences within the UK and abroad.

I teach and taught various topics in relation to modern German literature and language on undergraduate and postgraduate level.
