Ar gamau cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol, rwy'n darparu arweinyddiaeth ar draws y proffesiwn ar ddefnyddio delweddu uwchsain mewn gofal iechyd, gyda phwyslais arbennig ar uwchsain pwynt gofal (PoCUS).
Prif faes gweithgaredd yw gweithio gyda phroffesiynau, arbenigeddau a systemau gofal iechyd gwahanol i ddatblygu atebion cadarn a chynaliadwy i'w defnydd o PoCUS. Yn ganolog i hyn mae cymhwyso dull triongl PoCUS a ddatblygais, lle mae elfennau cydgysylltiedig (i) cwmpas ymarfer, (ii) addysg a chymhwysedd a (iii) llywodraethu yn cael eu diffinio a'u halinio. Gan dynnu ar fy arbenigedd eang yn y maes hwn, mae pob datrysiad wedi'i deilwra i ofynion a chyd-destun penodol proffesiwn, arbenigedd neu system gofal iechyd 'defnyddiwr terfynol'. Mae rhai enghreifftiau o waith diweddar neu gyfredol yn cynnwys:
- Cynigion (yn y cyhoeddiad a arweiniais yn y cyfnodolyn 'Anaesthesia'1) ar gyfer datblygu gweithluoedd uwchsain ysgyfaint sy'n gysylltiedig â Covid-19 yng nghamau cynnar y pandemig byd-eang. Mae hyn wedi arwain at fy ymwneud parhaus â gofal critigol a defnydd meddygaeth frys o PoCUS yn y DU, Gogledd America ac Asia, gan gynnwys cyhoeddiad diweddar gyda thimau wedi'u lleoli yn India, De-ddwyrain Asia ac UDA ar ehangu PoCUS Meddygaeth Frys yn India.
- Arweiniais ar ddatblygu canllawiau delweddu uwchsain ar gyfer Ffisiotherapyddion yn y DU, gan baratoi'r ffordd ar gyfer y genhedlaeth nesaf o ofal ffisiotherapi sy'n seiliedig ar ddelweddu. Mae hyn yn cynnwys arbenigeddau fel gofal ysgyfaint / critigol, iechyd pelfig, niwrotocsin dan arweiniad uwchsain mewn anhwylderau spasticity a chyhyrysgerbydol. Yn deillio o hyn, cefais fy nghomisiynu gan Gymdeithas Ffisiotherapyddion Iwerddon i weithio gyda chynrychiolwyr Gwyddelig i ddatblygu canllawiau pwrpasol ar gyfer Ffisiotherapyddion yn Iwerddon i sefydlu ac ehangu'r defnydd o PoCUS yn system gofal iechyd Iwerddon, gan gynnwys alinio â menter gofal iechyd mawr Sláintecare (dogfen bolisi ar gael ar gais).
- Rwyf wedi cefnogi datblygiad canllawiau ar gyfer defnyddio delweddu uwchsain mewn meysydd ymarfer sy'n dod i'r amlwg megis Therapi Iaith a Lleferydd ac ehangu rôl Sonograffwyr.
Yn ogystal â'r ffrydiau gwaith uchod, rwy'n cyfrannu fy arbenigedd at ddelweddu uwchsain gyrfa, gan gynnwys ei ryngwyneb â PoCUS. Mae enghreifftiau nodedig yn cynnwys:
- Cychwynnais broses y corff proffesiynol 'Cymdeithas Siartredig y Ffisiotherapyddion' (CSP; a'u 53,000 o aelodau) gan ddod yn aelod o Addysg Sonograffig Achredu Consortiwm (CASE; y DU, sefydliad traws-broffesiwn ar gyfer craffu addysg sonograffig). Yn ogystal â bod yn aelod pwyllgor hirsefydlog o CASE (sy'n cynrychioli'r CSP), arweiniais ar brosiect a ariennir gan 'Health Education England' i gynnal adolygiad unwaith mewn cenhedlaeth o ddull achredu CASE. Mae gan hyn oblygiadau eang ar draws arbenigeddau sonograffig o fasgwlaidd, obstetreg / gynaecoleg, abdomen, rhannau bach a delweddu cyhyrysgerbydol.
- Rwy'n aelod pwyllgor hirsefydlog o Gymdeithas Uwchsain Meddygol Prydain (BMUS), gan gyfrannu at eu ffrydiau gwaith Safonau Proffesiynol, Addysg a PoCUS. Yn flaenorol, rwyf wedi bod yn ymwneud â mentrau ynghylch datblygu fframweithiau gyrfa Sonograffeg y DU ar gyfer delweddu gyrfa, gan gynnwys gwneud cais am ddiogelu'r teitl 'Sonographer'.
Mae enghreifftiau o'm hymwneud ehangach â delweddu uwchsain mewn gofal iechyd yn cynnwys:
- Ymgysylltu â allfeydd cyfryngau i gefnogi ymwybyddiaeth ehangach o rôl ehangach delweddu uwchsain mewn gofal iechyd; mae hyn wedi cynnwys sefydliadau fel Reuters, y BBC a chylchgrawn RAD. I have led laboratory and clinic based research as a Chief Investigator under single and multi-centre ethical approvals. My clinical research combined diagnostic ultrasound imaging with the management of shoulder disorders. This includes my £170,000 Fellowship from Arthritis Research UK where I explored prognostic factors relating to the management of patients with subacromial impingement / rotator cuff tendinopathy.

I have a unique skillset and professional profile:
- I am dual-qualified as both an assessing/treating clinician and an ultrasound imaging professional:
- As a qualified physiotherapist (BSc(Hons) and MSc(Physiotherapy)) I have worked in a range of clinical specialities; and went on to specialise in musculoskeletal disorders. In the UK, physiotherapists have high level clinical and patient management autonomy.
- I completed my CASE-accredited, post-graduate certificate (PgC) in medical ultrasound which included approximately 18 months experience in Radiology departments.
- I have extensive experience of the Higher Education (HE) / University sector:
- I have designed material, taught and assessed at undergraduate and postgraduate level for over a decade; and have management responsibilities as a year lead. Through my work with CASE I influence HE provision across all major sonography specialities.
- I have extensive research experience:
- Following on from various laboratory and clinic-based data collection projects, I previously secured a £170,000 fellowship by Arthritis Research UK to undertake my PhD study looking at prognostic indicators in shoulder rehabilitation.
- In parallel I have been a previous recipient of a fellowship from the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and for several years was a research committee member for the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER).
I am passionate about the highest standards of sonography education and clinical practice. This commitment is the cornerstone of my work with both point of care ultrasound (PoCUS) and career imaging.
