Mae gan ymchwil yng Ngrŵp Tredwell ddau brif gyfeiriad, cemeg organofluorin a radiocemeg fflworin-18. Mae gennym labordai llawn offer sy'n ein galluogi i berfformio cemeg synthetig a radiocemeg yn fewnol.
Mae moleciwlau fflworinedig wedi dod o hyd i gymwysiadau eang mewn agrocemeg, fferyllol, hyd at feysydd fel gwyddor deunyddiau. Mae ein hymchwil yn ceisio datblygu dulliau newydd ar gyfer synthesis dethol ac effeithlon cyfansoddion fflworinedig cymhleth. Mae ein rhaglenni ymchwil presennol yn y maes hwn yn cynnwys

Mae delweddu tomograffeg allyriadau positron (PET) yn dechneg delweddu feddyginiaethol a ddefnyddir ar gyfer diagnosis clinigol o glefyd ac i gefnogi darganfod cyffuriau. Mae'r dechneg hon yn dibynnu ar ddefnyddio radiotracwyr PET, moleciwlau sy'n cynnwys radionuclidau sy'n allyrru positron, wedi'u cynllunio i archwilio rhyngweithio biocemegol penodol. Mae fflworîn-18 yn radionuclide sy'n allyrru positron-(t1/2 = 109.7 munud) sy'n ddelfrydol ar gyfer radiolabelu moleciwlau bach.
