Ymchwil

Prif feysydd fy ymchwil yw Rhamantiaeth (yn enwedig y berthynas rhwng llenyddiaeth a gwleidyddiaeth yn oes y chwyldro) a diwylliannau materol ehangach y cyfnod Rhamantaidd; Hanesyddiaeth Ramantaidd a methodolegau Astudiaethau Rhamantaidd (gan gynnwys gwrthfactioldeb a dulliau beirniadol-greadigol); Rhamantiaeth a daearyddiaeth/cartograffeg; Ysgrifennu Cymraeg yn Saesneg; Barddoniaeth yr ugeinfed ganrif; ac Ysgrifennu Creadigol (yn enwedig barddoniaeth) – gyda'i gilydd, wrth gwrs, gyda'r rhyngwynebau rhwng y cyfnodau, disgyblaethau a dulliau hyn.

Rwy'n cwblhau cyfrol olaf cyd-awdur yr Oxford Literary History of  Wales, yr wyf yn Olygydd Cyffredinol ohoni. Ymhlith ei gyhoeddiadau diweddar mae erthyglau ar Coleridge, llongddrylliad a thrawma ac ar drafodaethau creadigol-feirniadol Keats gyda'r afiechyd a'i lladdodd; y casgliad golygedig Counterfactual Romanticism (Gwasg Prifysgol Manceinion, 2019); y casgliad cyd-olygedig Romantic Cartographies (Gwasg Prifysgol Caergrawnt, 2020); a'r casgliad Roald Dahl: Wales of the Unexpected (Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru, 2016). Mae ei gyhoeddiadau yn cynnwys argraffiad Caergrawnt o nofel Thomas Love Peacock, The Misfortunes of Elphin (1829), gyda Mary-Ann Constantine. Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n cwblhau erthyglau ar The English Mail-coach gan Thomas De Quincey, ac ar Dylan Thomas a gweddi.

Mae ei chasgliadau barddoniaeth diweddar yn cynnwys Judas (Seren, 2015), Docklands (Seren, 2019), Viva Bartali! (Seren, 2023) a Free Verse: Poems for Richard Price (Seren, 2023; golygwyd ar y cyd â Kevin Mills). Mae gen i ddiddordeb arbennig mewn defnyddio'r monolog dramatig i adfer – os mai dim ond pwysleisio anadferadwyedd – lleisiau coll neu ymylol hanes yn unig. Rwy'n cwblhau llyfr ffeithiol o'r enw The Ground, sy'n cloddio chwe chae cyfagos ym Mro Morgannwg, ynghyd â chyfrol o farddoniaeth wedi'i chanoli ar ddigwyddiad morwrol dramatig o'r cyfnod Rhufeinig, o'r enw The Light.
