Rwy'n Gymrawd Ymchwil ac yn Arweinydd Cysylltu Data ar gyfer CASCADE, Canolfan Ymchwil a Datblygu Gofal Cymdeithasol Plant ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd. Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n cynnal Cymrodoriaeth Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymru sy'n edrych ar ffactorau sy'n gysylltiedig â phlant sy'n dychwelyd adref o ofal. Ar hyn o bryd rwyf hefyd yn gweithio ar yr Astudiaeth Alcohol Rhieni yn CASCADE, ac rwy'n Gyd-Ymchwilydd Labordy Gofal, sydd wedi'i leoli yn y ganolfan gofal cymdeithasol i oedolion CARE.
Rwyf wedi cyfrannu at nifer o brosiectau yn CASCADE yn flaenorol sy'n edrych ar wahanol faterion sy'n ymwneud â gofal cymdeithasol plant. Roeddwn i'n Brif Ymchwilydd prosiect sy'n edrych ar y berthynas rhwng ffactorau risg cartref a mynediad plant i ofal awdurdod lleol yn ddiweddarach, ac yn Gyd-Fuddsoddwr prosiect a ariennir gan Nuffield sy'n edrych ar Orchmynion Gwarcheidiaeth Arbennig . Roedd fy PhD yn canolbwyntio ar newidiadau yn lles emosiynol rhieni â phlant ifanc sy'n derbyn cymorth ymweld â'r cartref gan Home-Start.

Dychwelyd adref o ofal
Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n cynnal Cymrodoriaeth Gofal Cymdeithasol Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymru ar Ddychwelyd Adref o Ofal. Mae'n archwilio'r ffactorau sy'n gysylltiedig â phlant yn cael eu haduno'n llwyddiannus â'u teuluoedd ar ôl cyfnod mewn gofal. Mae hyn yn cynnwys ymarfer i gefnogi ailuno, yn ogystal â ffactorau sy'n gysylltiedig â'r plentyn, eu rhieni a'u hardal leol. Mae hefyd yn edrych ar i ba raddau y mae newidiadau mewn ailuno yn cyfrif am y cynnydd yn nifer y plant mewn gofal. Mae rhagor o wybodaeth ar gael ar wefan CASCADE. Bydd yr astudiaeth yn rhedeg tan Awst 2027.
Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n gweithio ar yr Astudiaeth Alcohol Rhieni a ariennir gan yr NIHR - mae'r prosiect yn defnyddio data gweinyddol i edrych ar raddfa ac effaith camddefnyddio alcohol gan rieni yng Nghymru. Mae'r astudiaeth yn rhedeg tan fis Gorffennaf 2027

Teuluoedd gwarcheidiaeth arbennig yng Nghymru: Profiadau ac anghenion cymorth
Roeddwn i'n Gyd-Ymchwilydd y Prosiect hwn a ariennir gan Nuffield yn edrych ar anghenion cymorth a phrofiadau plant a theuluoedd â Gorchmynion Gwarcheidiaeth Arbennig. Arweiniais linyn cysylltu data y prosiect, a ddefnyddiodd ddata wedi'i seilio ym Manc Data SAIL i adeiladu proffil o blant sy'n derbyn SGOs, a'u gofalwyr. Cwblhawyd y prosiect ym mis Ebrill 2026.
PaRhent Ffactorau Risg a Phlant sy'n Dechrau Gofal
Fi oedd y Prif Ymchwilydd ar gyfer y prosiect hwn a ariennir gan Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymru sy'n edrych ar y berthynas rhwng ffactorau risg cartrefi a mynediad plant i ofal awdurdodau lleol yn ddiweddarach. Roedd yr astudiaeth yn defnyddio data a gasglwyd yn rheolaidd o wasanaethau cymdeithasol yng Nghymru a'i gysylltu â data o iechyd ac addysg i edrych ar yr aelwydydd yr oedd plant yn byw ynddynt cyn iddynt fynd i ofal. Edrychodd ar y ffactorau risg yn yr oedolion sy'n byw yn yr aelwydydd hynny yn ogystal â nodweddion plant. Mae rhagor o wybodaeth ar gael ar wefan CASCADE. Cwblhawyd yr astudiaeth ym mis Ionawr 2024.
Rhwng Mai 2018 a Medi 2020 gweithiais ar ystod o brosiectau sy'n cael eu cynnal yn CASCADE Prifysgol Caerdydd ar gyfer What Works for Children's Social Care. Roedd hyn yn cynnwys cyfrannu at adolygiadau tystiolaeth a nifer o brosiectau ymchwil empirig. Roedd prosiectau ymchwil yn cynnwys:
- Llety Diogel, Cwblhawyd Medi 2020 - Roeddwn yn rhan o'r tîm ymchwil sy'n ymchwilio i gefndiroedd a chanlyniadau pobl ifanc a gyfeiriwyd at lety diogel yn Lloegr. Defnyddiodd yr astudiaeth setiau data gweinyddol cysylltiedig i gymharu cefndiroedd a chanlyniadau pobl ifanc a leolwyd mewn llety diogel, gyda'r rhai a gafodd eu cyfeirio ond heb eu lleoli. Roedd fy rôl yn canolbwyntio ar ddadansoddi data Plant mewn Angen, i nodi ymwneud blaenorol y bobl ifanc â gwasanaethau plant.
- Addysg Uwch Pobl Ifanc â Phrofiad Gofal, Cwblhawyd Mai 2020 - Roedd y prosiect hwn yn astudiaeth ddulliau cymysg sy'n ceisio deall y ffactorau sy'n gysylltiedig â phobl ifanc sydd â phrofiad o ofal sy'n gwneud cais am Addysg Uwch a sut y gellir eu cefnogi i wneud hynny. Arweiniais ar adain feintiol y prosiect, a ddefnyddiodd set ddata Next Steps i archwilio sut mae dyheadau pobl ifanc sydd â phrofiad o ofal i wneud cais am Addysg Uwch yn wahanol i'r rhai nad ydynt â phrofiad gofal a sut mae hyn yn newid dros amser.
- Goruchwyliaeth sy'n canolbwyntio ar ganlyniadau, astudiaeth beilot, a gwblhawyd Ionawr 2020 - Cynhaliwyd yr astudiaeth hon yn Ymddiriedolaeth Plant Birmingham, ac archwiliodd ddichonoldeb gweithredu a gwerthuso effeithiolrwydd Goruchwyliaeth sy'n canolbwyntio ar ganlyniadau mewn gwasanaethau plant. Roedd data yn cael ei gasglu ar dri phwynt, gan weithwyr cymdeithasol, a goruchwylwyr gwaith cymdeithasol, gyda data cyfyngedig wedi'i gasglu o'r teuluoedd y maent yn gweithio gyda nhw. Arweiniais ar y dadansoddiad meintiol ar gyfer yr astudiaeth.
Ymchwil Doethurol: Cymorth Ymweld â'r Cartref i Rieni mewn sefyllfaoedd anffafriol, natur y gefnogaeth a lles emosiynol rhieni, a gwblhawyd yn 2018
Archwiliodd fy PhD y berthynas rhwng amgylchiadau teuluol, natur y gefnogaeth a gwelliannau mewn lles emosiynol rhieni ymhlith teuluoedd sy'n derbyn cymorth ymweld â'r cartref. Fe'i cyd-noddwyd gan Home-Start UK a'r ESRC. Defnyddiwyd y model Home-Start o gymorth i deuluoedd fel astudiaeth achos a'r ymchwil a gynhaliwyd trwy ddadansoddiad meintiol o ddata gweinyddol Home-Start. Datblygwyd modelau i archwilio newidiadau mewn lles emosiynol yn ystod cymorth ymhlith teuluoedd mewn gwahanol amgylchiadau a derbyn gwahanol fathau o gefnogaeth.
Bywgraffiad
Ar ôl gradd israddedig mewn Biocemeg, cefais yrfa gynnar yn addysgu gwyddoniaeth ysgol uwchradd yng Nghaerdydd ac Uganda. Yna treuliais bedair blynedd ar ddeg yn gweithio i'r sefydliad ymbarél plant Plant yng Nghymru, mewn rôl sy'n seiliedig ar bolisi a gwybodaeth cyn dychwelyd i'r byd academaidd. Canolbwyntiodd fy PhD ar gymorth ymweld â'r cartref a ddarperir i deuluoedd â phlant ifanc gan Home-Start UK. Defnyddiodd ddata gweinyddol Home-Start i edrych ar sut mae sefyllfa teulu a'r ffordd y darperir cymorth yn gysylltiedig â newidiadau mewn lles emosiynol ymhlith rhieni sy'n derbyn cymorth. Rwyf wedi bod yn gweithio yn CASCADE ers mis Mai 2018, gan gyfrannu i ddechrau at ystod eang o brosiectau sy'n cael eu cynnal ar gyfer Gofal Cymdeithasol What Works for Children. Roeddwn yn Brif Ymchwilydd prosiect dwy flynedd a ariennir gan Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymru sy'n edrych ar y berthynas rhwng ffactorau risg cartrefi a mynediad plant i ofal awdurdodau lleol yn ddiweddarach. Rwyf bellach yn cynnal Cymrodoriaeth Gofal Cymdeithasol tair blynedd Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymru sy'n edrych ar y ffactorau sy'n gysylltiedig â phlant sy'n dychwelyd adref o ofal.
