Ymchwil
Mae fy ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar ddeall eiddo sy'n dod i'r amlwg a chynhyrchu terfynau trylwyr, sy'n ein galluogi i raddfa rhwng elfennau arwahanol a systemau parhaus. Yn benodol, roedd fy ymchwil doethurol yn ystyried y cysylltiad rhwng hafaliadau trylediad adwaith parhaus a'u analogau sy'n seiliedig ar asiantau.
Yn fwy diweddar, rwyf wedi bod yn gweithio ar allwthiadau cellog sydd newydd eu darganfod, sy'n gallu effeithio ar amrywiaeth o ffenomenau cellog, fel symud a rhannu. Mewn cydweithrediad â Phrifysgol Reading, rwy'n ymchwilio i fôn-gelloedd cyhyrau sy'n llywio tuag at ranbarthau o ddifrod cyhyrol gan arwain at iacháu ac adfywio cyhyrau. Yn benodol, rwy'n cael cysylltiadau dadansoddol rhwng allwthiadau arwahanol spatio-tymhorol cell unigol a dosbarthiad a symudiad poblogaeth parhaus y bôn-gelloedd. Yn hollbwysig, rydym wedi gallu defnyddio'r model hwn i nodweddion cwpl algebraidd yn y cynnig cellog arsylwi i nodweddion strwythurol anweledig y bilen gell.
Bywgraffiad
Astudiodd Dr Thomas Woolley fathemateg ym Mhrifysgol Rhydychen rhwng 2004 a 2017. Trwy ei addysg daeth i ben yn arbenigo mewn bioleg fathemategol, lle canolbwyntiodd ei ddoethuriaeth ar ddeall y patrwm y tu ôl i smotiau pysgod a stribedi sebra. Ochr yn ochr â'r ymchwil hwn mae bellach yn ymchwilio i fodelau mathemategol o symudiad bôn-gelloedd. Y gobaith yw, trwy ddeall sut mae bôn-gelloedd yn symud, y gallwn ddylanwadu arnynt ac, felly, cyflymu'r broses iacháu.
Pan nad yw'n gwneud mathemateg mae'n gyfranogwr brwd mewn gweithdai allgymorth mathemategol ac mae wedi rhoi amrywiaeth o ddarlithoedd mathemateg poblogaidd yn genedlaethol ac yn rhyngwladol. Cyn hynny mae wedi gweithio i'r BBC, wedi darlunio llyfr Marcus du Sautoy ac wedi gweithio ar y sioe fathemateg boblogaidd "Dara O'Briains school of hard sums". Yn fwyaf diweddar, ef oedd Cymrawd Mathemateg Fodern Amgueddfa Wyddoniaeth Llundain ac mae'n cael cymorth i ailgynllunio eu horiel fathemateg.
