Trosolwyg
Prif ddiddordeb ymchwil Gabriela yw ym maes perfformiad ynni ac adeiladu cynaliadwyedd. Mae ei gwaith yn canolbwyntio ar y ffactorau dynol (gweithredoedd pobl, ymddygiadau) sy'n effeithio ar berfformiad adeiladau. Mae'n cymhwyso technegau monitro, damcaniaethau gwyddorau cymdeithasol a dulliau ymchwil gwyddorau cymdeithasol i ymchwilio i'r nexus rhwng agweddau technegol a dynol ar berfformiad.
Mae hi wedi ymchwilio i ffactorau dynol mewn perfformiad a chynaliadwyedd yn y broses ddylunio ac mewn adeiladau sydd ar waith. Mae ei gwaith ar adeiladau presennol yn edrych ar y nexus rhwng ymddygiadau/arferion preswylwyr, gan arwain at amgylchedd dan do (cysur thermol yn benodol) a pherfformiad adeiladu. Nod hyn yw ysgogi ymddygiadau/arferion i fynd i'r afael â heriau perfformiad. Mae ei gwaith dylunio yn edrych ar sut mae dylunwyr yn mynegi ac yn ymgorffori gofynion perfformiad a chynaliadwyedd yn y broses ddylunio. Nod hyn yw nodi gwersi o'r broses ddylunio i wella perfformiad yng nghamau diweddarach y cylch bywyd adeiladu. Mae ganddi ddiddordeb mewn gwaith rhyngddisgyblaethol gan edrych ar y materion hyn mewn prosesau dylunio ac mewn gwahanol fathau o adeiladau, yn enwedig adeiladau ysgolion. Mae ganddi ddiddordeb mewn gweithio ar blant - gan ganolbwyntio ar ymchwil ac ymchwilio i sut mae pobl ifanc yn cymryd rhan mewn adeiladau cynaliadwy.

Bywgraffiad
Mae gan Gabriela PhD mewn Pensaernïaeth o Brifysgol Caerdydd (a ariennir gan efrydiaeth PhD Sefydliad Ymchwil Adeiladu) a Gradd Meistr mewn Technolegau Adeiladu Pensaernïaeth o Sefydliad Technoleg Georgia, UDA (a ariennir gan grant Fulbright/Senacty). Mae ganddi brofiad ymchwil yn y Deyrnas Unedig, yn yr Unol Daleithiau ac yn Ecwador.
Mae hi'n bensaer sydd â diddordeb mewn defnyddio dulliau cymdeithasol-dechnegol i ymchwilio i adeiladau cynaliadwy, perfformiad adeiladu, proses ddylunio a gwybodaeth dylunwyr. Mae ganddi ddiddordeb yn y nexus rhwng technoleg pobl ar waith ac mewn camau dylunio.
Prif ddiddordeb ymchwil Gabriela yw ym maes perfformiad ynni ac adeiladu cynaliadwyedd. Mae ei gwaith yn ymchwilio i sut mae ffactorau dynol (gweithredoedd pobl, ymddygiadau) yn effeithio ar berfformiad adeiladau. Mae'n cymhwyso technegau monitro, damcaniaethau/dulliau gwyddorau cymdeithasol i ymchwilio i'r nexus rhwng agweddau technegol a dynol ar berfformiad. Mae ganddi brofiad o werthuso perfformiad adeiladau (BPE) ac asesu cynaliadwyedd mewn cyfnodau dylunio a gweithredol. Mae ei gwaith yn y cyfnod gweithredol wedi edrych ar y berthynas rhwng cysur thermol ac effeithlonrwydd ynni, gan ganolbwyntio ar y nexus rhwng arferion preswylwyr a pherfformiad adeiladu dilynol. Mae ei gwaith dylunio yn ymchwilio i'r defnydd o offer a'r prosesau a weithredir gan ymarferwyr i ymgorffori ystyriaethau perfformiad mewn dylunio adeiladau.

Meysydd goruchwyliaeth
I am interested in supervising PhD students with an interest in applying socio-technical approaches to investigate:
- Design process for low energy performance and sustainability
- Human factors that affect the performance of buildings
- Energy and environmental performance of buildings using socio-technical approaches
- Nexus between thermal comfort and energy consumption in buildings
- People and technology interactions in the context of energy efficiency and/or performance-based requirements (in design and in operational phases)
- Connections between design process and operational performance
