Derbyniodd Haobo Zhang ei raddau B.Eng. a PhD mewn peirianneg drydanol o Brifysgol Gwyddoniaeth a Thechnoleg Huazhong (HUST), Tsieina yn 2020 a 2025 yn y drefn honno. Roedd yn fyfyriwr PhD gwadd ym Mhrifysgol Dechnolegol Nanyang (NTU) rhwng 2023 a 2024. Ar hyn o bryd, mae'n Gydymaith Ymchwil ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, y DU. Mae ei ddiddordebau ymchwil yn cynnwys diogelu a rheoli gridiau MMC-HVDC a DC.
