Overview
I qualified in 2008 from Exeter University and have held senior positions within the NHS over nearly the past 2 decades. I have worked right across the life span clinically, with children through to older adults. I have experience of treating a range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, OCD, low self-esteem, eating disorders, self-harm, depression, trauma, bereavement and loss.
In my clinical work my focus is cognitive models such as CBT and ACT, although my specialist area of interest is in trauma interventions with a focus on EMDR.
Over the years, I have specialised in the psychological aspects of health-related problems, such as chronic fatigue. And worked extensively within psychological services offering support to people suffering with cancer, including palliative care.
I have led teams within the NHS, supervised trainees and worked as a Senior Tutor on the Plymouth Clinical Psychology Doctorate. As a Senior Clinical Tutor within the Cardiff Clinical Psychology Doctorate I support trainees, supervise research projects, coordinate placements, liaise with supervisors, teach, mark and moderates coursework. I am also the Staff lead for the Expert by Experience committee which oversees and guides public participation and service user involvement across all aspect of the clinical psychology training programme.
