Overview
I work as a Senor Academic Tutor on the South Wales Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My role involves supporting the academic components of the programme, writing and delivering teaching, and supervising doctoral-level research.
In my clinical role, I am a consultant clinical psychologist who specialises in Neurodiversity, adapting psychological therapies to suit a neurodiverse population. I have extensive experience in leading Autism and Intellectual Disability services, and I aim to further research interests in Cardiff University within these areas.
Areas of interest
Neurodiversity, Adaptions to therapy, Attachment and Trauma, Development of Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in Children/Adolescents, Mental Capacity, Parenting.
Research
Current research areas in active supervision:
Psychological distress in parents with learning disabilities following child removal through the court of protection: A qualitative study.
Patients’ and staffs’ experiences of debriefing within secure mental health settings.
Understanding service users’ experiences of support networks during recovery within secure mental health settings.
How do individuals experience secure mental health care? A Grounded Theory Study.
Teaching
I teach various topics on the South Wales DClinPsy. Most of these subjects tend to support the curriculum around psychological therapies, working with neurodiversity and delivering intellectual disability psychology services.
